The pre-check

The week’s latest travel stories and news.

  • Super fly (and safe).
After reviewing 385 airlines, AirlineRatings.com ranked these 20 airlines as the best in safety standards, with Qantas ranked as #1.

Some of our favorite airlines are adding new flight routes to their arsenal, including more non-stop options to international destinations.

  • Your ticket to Hong Kong.
As part of a major campaign to encourage tourism, Hong Kong’s gov is giving away some 500k flight tickets to travelers via lottery.

Tricks of the trade

How to find Black-owned restaurants at your destination.
Looking for a place to eat during your upcoming trip? We’ve got an idea – use OpenTable’s Minority owned/operated filter to find Black-owned restaurants. Search for your destination on OpenTable via desktop, scroll through the filters and check the “Black/African American” box. This filter makes it easy to discover local restaurants and support Black business-owners.
