Next up: the holiday season.

Now that you’ve stocked up on half-priced Halloween candy, it’s time to get serious about Thanksgiving and holiday travel. If you’re headed home for any of the upcoming holidays, we’ve got tips and information that could help you save on your commute – keep scrolling for the full details.

The pre-check

The week’s latest travel stories and news.

  • Prints, please.

The ESS (entry and exit system) will be introduced to certain European countries in May 2023, which will change how non-EU citizens travel.
  • It’s all Greek to me.

With the return of travel and strength of the US dollar, tourism in the Mediterranean has been all the rage this past summer and fall.
  • No more junk.

Similar to the changes we’re seeing with transparent flight fares, the US gov wants to eliminate excess hotel fees included in nightly prices.
  • The flyest holiday airlines.

According to a recent article, these four airlines have some of the best deals for those flying domestically this holiday season.
  • Speaking of flight deals…

Another airline is offering an unlimited flight plan. Frontier Airlines will be offering an “all-you-can-fly” pass starting 2023.

There’s no place like home.
For those who spend the holidays with family, there’s no comfort quite like returning home – and this year, many hope to do just that. In a recent survey, 74% of GenZ and millennial travelers said that they plan to travel home for the holidays this season. If this sounds like you, we’ve got tools to ease the stress of visiting family with our new holiday travel guide. Take a look to see how we can help:

  • Build in some flexibility

When the holidays get busy, it’s nice to have flexibility – find flights, cars, and stays that won’t charge you for changing plans by using “flexible filters” when you search.
  • Know when to book

With everything else you have going on, you don’t have time to check for the best prices – which is why we do it for you. Set a Price Alert and we’ll tell you exactly when to book.
  • Stay organized

No need to search through your inbox for travel info – just use Trips. Connect this tool to your inbox or add your plans manually for an easy way to find your travel deets.
  • Not the one traveling?

Keep tabs on your loved ones who are coming home with our Flight Tracker – just grab their flight info to find out more about their ETA and where in the airport to pick them up.

Tricks of the trade

Book now or hold your peace.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – the time to book your travel plans for the holidays is ASAP. A recent article from the Washington Post is even backing us up: “It will be similarly important to find the sweet spot to fly for Christmas, when a domestic round-trip flight will average $574, according to KAYAK. That’s 52 percent higher than 2021 and 50 percent higher than 2019.” If you haven’t already, finalize those plans for going home (or off to roam) this holiday season… we mean it.
