Brrrr. It’s cold out there. ❄️

We’re almost finished with the first month of 2022 – time flies when you’re daydreaming about future trips. As we look toward February, here’s the latest on what’s happening in the world of travel.

The pre-check

With a number of destinations revisiting their COVID-19 travel restrictions and more people heading to National Parks, here’s what’s happening in the world of travel.

  • Who’s loosening up.
The UK. For anyone with a London trip, the British Government is doing away with COVID-19 testing requirements for vaccinated people arriving in England.
  • Who else is getting in on this trend?
Ireland. At the beginning of the year, the country canceled pre-departure COVID-19 testing for travelers and has reopened bars and restaurants up to full capacity. This could be a good sign for those looking to get away to Europe this year.

Here’s what’s trending and how it can help you make the most of your trip.

It’s called “trip stacking” and people are apparently doing it.
According to Travel + Leisure, there’s a new trend emerging for travelers who’ve been burned by airline cancellation and travel restriction changes. Called “trip stacking,” the idea is that travelers are booking several trips at once (with flexible cancellation, of course) so they have a Plan B (and C… and maybe even D) if their OG plan hits a snag.

How can you make trip stacking happen?
Listen, it’s a privilege to be able to plan – and afford – several trips at once. But we have some tips on how the average person can make it happen.

  • Look at travel trends.
Our Flight Trends can show you where travel interest is shifting – which can sometimes be an indication that people are finding great deals.
  • Track price changes.
Set a Price Alert for several destinations at once. We’ll let you know as soon as the price changes – as well as when we expect you’ll see a great price.
  • Put those prices on ice.
Thinking through a few options for plans B, C and D? Use Price Freeze – for a small fee, you can freeze your search results as you finalize your plan.
  • Explore your options.
One last way to help you trip stack while staying on budget is KAYAK Explore. Just set how much you want to spend per flight, and find all the destinations you can fly to for that price – or lower.
