We enjoyed ourselves - rest, relaxation and beauty!
The assortment of foods for breakfast were the same every day. Needs more choices. Could use some evening entertainment as well.
we have a good time the hotel overall was good, the flight was in time and perfect!! we love the beach un costa rica y the weather was good.
We had 3 rooms at the hotel, every single accommodation was excellent. The staff very upbeat, friendly, couldn't do enough for the guests. It is our second time at Flamingo Beach Resort and Spa. Loved the pool bar, the staff, the food was amazing...
My hopes weren't that high when I booked this place, because of some of the reviews, but the reviews are wrong! This place is so wonderful, I'm already planning time to go back next year. It's close to town, so your never far from doing anything. The staff is so friendly and the facilities and grounds are clean. The food was awesome. I've been staying at different all inclusives for years, this was the best food I've ever eaten. The buffet changes eveyday and the salad bar is so good. Plus you have the grill or if you just want a burger, hot dog, pizza you can go to the snack bar. Lucky for us there were a lot of local Costarican families stay-cationing our first weekend- what a beautiful and respectful culture. I can't say enough good things about Barcelo, but Thank you to them for giving my family one of the best vacations we've ever had.
We loved our stay at the Flamingo Beach Resort and Spa. The staff was friendly and courteous. There were always workers on the premises, keeping the place neat and clean. The breakfast was varied and delicious, especially the fresh fruit and made-to-order omelette. This place was family oriented, we traveled with teens and a baby and they were very accomodating to all our needs. Highly recommended and will be returning in the future.
Good service,good food,nice staff,everything was good,but a little bit isolated.
Only two suggestions : Extend time for casino room, so during hours when sun is really hot one still could find something to do inside. And having more variety of food in restaurant on premises would be nice, or just put up second restaurant with different kitchen. Other than that it's great vacation place on pacific Ocean beach. Would not mind to stay here again i travel to this region.
Beautiful beach on the Pacific coast. Private feel w/ resort comforts. Highly recommended. Check out Mar y sol restaurant as well- free pick up from the hotel. Conceirge to help w/ your vacation plans, as well as nearby Ecotrans..... Hotel service to get to nearby towns if needed. Internet was spotty at best.
Contrary to most of the positive reviews posted here, my husband and I were pretty disappointed with our stay. While there was nothing atrocious that occurred, we were severely underwhelmed with almost every aspect. When we first checked in, our room overlooked the parking lot and dumpster, so thankfully we were able to switch to a pool view for an additional fee. Only problem was, the A/C took almost a full day to cool off our room. While the location can't be beat (right across the street from the beach), the food was absolutely terrible! (Watch out for the nachos in particular... the cheese is from a can.) The staff was generally nice, though not overly helpful, but the resort overall was severely understaffed. Also, the transportation manager was a complete joke. I emailed her 3 times about a transfer from the airport, finally got a reply on the morning of our flight after a direct question asking whether or not anyone was coming for us, but after waiting for over 30 mins, no one showed up and we had to take a cab. Also, if you take a cab anywhere from the hotel they request that you pay through the hotel, essentially tying you to the resort the whole time. And the concierge recommended that we 'check out their gift shop' instead of going into town. Definitely would not recommend this resort or stay here again.
Our stay was excellent. It is beach front as well as having a large pool. Breakfast is included with your room and it is delicious. We chose to have lunch and dinner at different restaurants and all the choices we made were excellent! Our family had a great time here!
This hotel is very peaceful and relaxing. Within a few steps to the beach where the hotel staff awaits to carry over your lounge chair. The grounds are well kept and the staff was very accommodating. Thankfully there was not an abundance of young people there just to party and spoil the atmosphere. This is a GREAT place to go and get away with your loved one.
We spent spring break here with two kids (10 and 14), and here's a look at our experience:\n\nGood\n* good location - across street from nice beach with fabulous view and sunset.\n* nice staff, helpful and friendly\n* nice pool, good for kids\n* rooms are big, beds decent\n* no issues with notel reservation or (almost all) flights\n\nNot So\n* no fridge in room - tough to do anything but buy all food and drinks elsewhere.\n* noisy - pool-view room = disco and pool noise non-stop until around 10-11pm.\n* low water pressure for showers - hardly a trickle at times.\n\nBad\n* food and drink prices - Costa Rica is no bargain at Playa Flamingo. $8 margaritas and drinks, mediocre food, and count on spending $50 or more (2 adults, 2 kids) at any meal. When you almost have to eat every meal out, that adds up fast for cheapskates like us. I'm sure we could have spent less if we knew more....\n* Flight problem - though we booked our trip in August last year, we still did NOT have seats on our flight out of Denver for some reason. We were the last 4 people on the plane. We had done all the early checkin and things you're supposed to do, but all travel people we spoke to had said 'don't worry about it'. That's not ok. We got on, but it was touch and go.\n\nWe would probably have done better by reserving a condo and doing most of our own breakfasts and lunches--it's more our style. We did get by at the hotel with the ice bucket and lots of Zip-loks, but it was frustrating. First trip to CR, so we'll learn from it.
I tried to check in to the Flamingo Beach Hotel and they said they \ndidn't ever receive a reservation from online travel website. The place was fully booked and they refused to let me stay there. \nAfter spending ONE HOUR on an international call with online travel website customer \nsupport, the issue was not resolved and I had to find MY OWN room \nelsewhere. The place cost MUCH MORE $$ than my original reservation. \n \nOn top of that, I still have not had the $$ that was PREPAID through \nonline travel website refunded yet despite that the customer service rep \nme he had already credited my card back! I cannot believe after all \nthat time spent on hold, that this has not been done. \n \nAt the backup hotel where I stayed, we met another couple who also said the Flamingo Beach Hotel had 'lost' their reservation. \nSO WARNING, if you are planning on staying there (it is a nice place despite my anger with the reservation system of T and FBH) you absolutely must confirm your reservation. \n \nConsider yourself warned. The last thing you want is to arrive in a foreign country without a place to stay.
I stayed at this hotel with my fiance in June and had one of the worst experiences of my life. In my opinion this hotel is not safe. The hotel staff issued us a bad key kept the good key. This was verified by the key reader in the room. After the manager saw the unathorized entry the manager offered to fix the problem however now he will not even return my phone calls. Please be careful when you stay at this hotel.
Every thing was real nice except for the dining room. The prices were obscene with the very small amount of food that was served. When you were done eating you were still hungry.
I went to Costa Rica to do business. It was important that I have internet service in my room. The hotel advertised that they had in-room high-speed internet, but in fact they didn't. I informed them I had to change hotels so I could have this service. They informed me my advance payment of the room was not refundable
internet access, continental breakfast are not free. no irons or ironboards in rooms. no charter bus to or from airport. anytime you want to leave hotel, receptions people push you to take a cab. it appears they are in with the cab guys and get a cut. we took a bus to Tamarindo for $375 colones (about 75c U.S.), the hotel pushed us to take a cab for $40 US. they don't tell you about alternatives such as buses which stop in front of Mariner's Restaurant just down the road. prices for drinks at pool bar vary by whomever is serving you. Tip: the girls charge less than the guys. '
