The staff. The beautiful building. The area.
Great location, friendly staff, extremely clean, very comfortable and new bed and bed linens
Bathroom could use an update
The location was perfect, especially for the price
I couldn't get internet in my room and it was extremely frustrating
the room did not have AC
It's located in the main road of Carmel, convenient and quiet, looks more like a garden than a hotel. There are a lot of flowers around the hotel, very beautiful and lovely. The room is tiny but cozy. Not much choices in breakfast but ok.
We stayed during Feb 9-19, the rooms are very tight due to some event in Pebble Beach, hotels are expensive even though I booked two weeks ahead. Heard the others lives in The Village Inn which is adjacent to comfort Inn and looks also nice, only Usd 99.
Location, free breakfast, clean room
Charged my credit card twice for the room rate. Check your statement after you leave.
Very poor signage and extremely poor lit sig age to identify the hotel location at night. Makes it almost dangerous to locate at night. Very poor street signage certainly doesn't help !
We liked its close proximity to downtown for shopping, walking and eating at wonderful eateries.
The insulation in the walls & ceiling were a bit thin so you did get some noise from rooms around us.
Very pretty and well maintained
Very congested and not a lot of amenities
double entry doors, convience to city dining, morning paper coffee and the bed
Proximity to downtown Carmel.
Does not allow for pets. Boo.
The loction was great. It is close to all the wonderful shops and galleries in Carmel. The room was clean.
The room was extremely small and made it tight just walking past each other. We didn't spend that much time in the room, so it was fine.
clean and updated
not enough insulation. could hear full conversations of neighbors in their rooms. also, very expensive for what you actually get
The location and the lining beds
Priceline cost was higher than the regular hotel price! Manager attitude, she was very rude! Room so small, can´t walk around bed; the walls are so, so thin, can hear all the guest around!! The towels very thin and old... Not a good experience
Carmel was my home for 30 years. Who wouldn't want to live there. Short of that this hotel is a great location to access shops and markets. In fact Brunos is around the corner and they have an excellent little deli. Enjoy !!
This is ideal place to stay for convince. Rooms nice, clean, good rate. We are used to staying in 5 star properties when traveling, and we will stay here, w/ o question next visit to Carmel. Also Casa Nova restaurant had some of best food ever!
Breakfast was great and the room was very clean
No staff past 930pm and the walls and windows are very thin. You can hear everything going on in the rooms around you or in the courtyard outside. We were forced to knock on our neighbors door at 1am to ask them to be quiet just so we could get some sleep
Fabulous location, walking distance from all the cute shops and restaurants in the 'downtown' area of Carmel - Ocean Ave. It didn't seem like a motel/chain at all. The landscaping was lovely, and it had a very quaint feel. The room was small, but nicely done. The bathroom was lovely and VERY clean. The bed was too firm for my taste, but I slept alright. Note that it's not really walking distance from the beach, but none of the hotels in the immediate area are.
You cannot beat the location, just above the top of downtown Carmel. The outside of the hotel was small, but attractive, with a nice patio. The room did nothing to stand out, but was very clean. The hotel could invest in nicer linens and mattresses to give the room a more luxury feel while making guests more comfortable.
The Comfort Inn is a small motel, two floors, with flourishing landscaping and flowers. The furnishings and rooms are updated, crown molding, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. Our king bed was very comfortable, rooms are very small, so there wasn't much more than a single person width path to walk between the foot of the bed and the entertainment center. A bit inconvenient but not that big of a deal. Bathroom had a marble shower/ floor with a granite top vanity. Quite roomy. I am a clean freak and was impressed with our room and bath. It was very warm when we were there (85 deg) but we found a fan in the closet which moved the air around the room. We had the windows open but needed the curtains closed (privacy) as people are always walking very close by the rooms so getting an outdoor breeze was impossible. That brings another issue...the noise...with windows open and people walking/talking right outside the window, you hear EVERYTHING. The doors slamming was the worst. At night you would think people would be considerate and not let the door slam. Both upstairs and next door. Babies crying...good luck. My suggestion....bring earplugs! Most small motels in the area would have the same issues due to the closeness of parking, streets, people, etc. Our one night stay in Carmel was wonderful, the beach, shops....so charming. We recommend the Flying Fish for dinner too. We walked everywhere, left the car parked. Traffic, especially at the beach, is challenging. Our early morning walk to the beach and along the water was beautiful. Be aware that the walk back to the Comfort Inn from the beach is an uphill walk. Stop along the way for coffee and enjoy! A 'thank you' when we checked out would have been nice.
Located just a block from all major activities, this place looks like an old mom and pops place that was acquired by a chain, who invested quite a bit in updates and created a comfortable and cozy environment. The rooms are clean (no smell of cheap cleaner, which some hotels use to cover up the smells of old must and dust). The bed is comfortable, on the firmer side. Heater works great (for those who mistakenly think that Northern California is a warm place). All rooms have a small fridge, microwave and basic cable TV. The bathrooms are newly updated with tile, vanity and shower with good water pressure. Daily housekeeping keeps a good stock of towels, soaps, shampoos, etc. The staff is what you would expect out of a small hotel with one clerk on duty from early morning until late evening. We did, however, hear a disgruntled couple, that arrived late at night and could not find their key, which from what I understood, was supposed to be left under the doormat for them. So, if you plan on arriving late, be sure to call ahead and confirm that your key is there. Slim breakfast selection of cold serial, muffins, bagels, coffee, tea, OJ, and fruit is the last resort! One major drawback is the noise level from adjacent rooms and outside. The walls don't seem to have any sound proofing, so you can follow any conversation (and other activities for that matter), than may be happening next door. Also, unless you're an early riser, you will be awakened around 8:30 by the housekeeping activities outside and inside adjacent rooms. Downstairs rooms are rather claustrophobic. Overall, good place to spend the night and get going early.
This is a remodeled older motel (most motels in Carmel are older).Marble in bathroom, coffee and 'fridge in room. Very clean, very friendly, family run. NO ODORS; not cooking smells, smoking. Cute garden patio. Only half a block from shopping in the quaint part of town! Many people there were loyal repeat visitors.
