Great rates, close to my route.
Yer room was freezing when I got in and the ground was cover with ice. Outside the door there was a bunch of tools and construction material. There was no light outside my door, if my family had been with me, we would have kept driving. The room was clean, but well worn. The sheets and bedding were old and stained, though appear to have been freshly laundered. I pulled in at 11pm and was ready to get out of there before 5 am.
Only 50% of the light bulbs in the room were functional. Blanket was thin as a sheet; heater was inadequate. Fridge did not work well, and wall outlets would not hold a plug.
The National 9 is located within walking distance of several coffee shops and restaurants on Main St. The room, furniture, etc showed a lot of wear and tear, but everything was clean. As long as it's clean, I'm happy. The National 9 is a very inexpensive option. I would stay there again, if they fixed the hot water temperature. The hot water temperature was the only show-stopper for me.
The hot water temperature for the shower and sink was really, really weak. At best it could be called "luke warm", certainly not "hot". The toilet flushed very slowly. I suspected the toilet might overflow each time I flushed it, but it never did. All stations on the TV came in very fuzzy. I didn't care about the TV, so this didn't bother me. Finally, the wifi was very slow. I tested it at about 300kbps, which is the same as my cell phone's 3G data reception.
The room was not clean at all. Hairs all over the floor and in the corners of the bathroom. The carpets were soiled and stained. The room smelled of mold. The towels were soiled and stained. The hot water took approximately 3-5 minutes to actually get hot and when the next door neighbor turned on their hot water ours went cold.
Wasnt quite what we were expecting but given the time of year and it was en route to Monument Valley, we were getting desperate! We actually booked for 2 nights but stayed for only one!
