The hotel is relatively modern and not too far from the main station. The bed was comfy in the room. The main train station and the old city are in walking distance. Central location, clean, quiet. Location conveniently close to station. Functional hotel. Location was great. 5 minutes walk to hbf. Right beside the lake. 10 minutes walking to shopping area. Hotel staff are nice and friendly. The room was quite worn and several of the lights/lamps did not work. No fridge or mini bar in the room / not even a single bottle of water! Towels were not clean, two of them had some dirt spots on them. Surfaces in the room were either dusty or had dirt spots. Aesthetically could only please Chimps. Kettle, bath slippers not owned. the elevator not working and no body help us our bags. Bed mattresses so so. Bit tired. Facilities could have been better. Poor tea/coffee/bar facilities. Rooms could have been more comfortable- fresh water, more pillows etc Hairdryers were available but didn’t work very well. Rooms very small. We had booked 4 rooms for a group and unfortunately due to to the Hostage drama at Hamburg airport 6 of the 8 people in the group could not attend Hamburg and had to re route the trip, As we realised we were unable to get a refund we requested that at least the 2 guests could get a seperate rooms and a free breakfast during the stay and after much discussion it was agreed they could have a seperate room each, However absolutely No to a free breakfast for the 2 guests considering all 4 rooms were pre paid and no refund they could have obliged and the 2 that arrived were elderly. This Ibis can use some investment in: better air conditioning and ventilation, new paint and better wifi. Room allocated was in other building and had this annoying walk around the hotel to get to it.. was bored of it after one day. Very little storage space in the room. There was no lock box in room for valuables and no tea or coffee making facility in the room. No complimentary water. The room it very small and has no fridge. The air-conditioning doesn’t work properly. The hotel does not have refrigerator in the room and the are no ramps in the corredor. there are some stairs in the corridor that leads to the rooms and I had difficult time to carry my big luggage to my room. Impersonal feel. Bit drab. Staff felt a bit reluctant. Functional for overnight, wouldn’t spend a holiday here. Staff didn't really know Hamburg. The area is quite dirty, and there are some homeless people. Room had what I considered could be a bad odour. Reported this to cleaners who said he was aware . Only one lift worked. Air conditioning not switched on centrally although it was very warm and humid. The internet. We couldn’t pay with card. A hair dryer, it took me eternity to dry my hair. Also, there is no iron in the room. Noise outside window - trains. Rooms were a little small for two. The hotel was very old interior, air conditioning didn’t work properly because very hot wheather 33’c degrees in outside and wasn’t cooling enough, no hair dryer and safe box, but the location was excellent. Every evening was a problem with hot water. During the five days stay, I managed to take a hot shower one time. At the reception, they told me it's normal, and I have to wait for a better temperature. AC was so loud that I couldn't use it. There were no additional facilities in the room, like electric kettle, and tea/coffee in the lobby was available for an extra charge. The mattress was past its best! The room was small and far away from everywhere! Overall, I thought it was overpriced. The mattress and pillows were too soft and not really comfortable. Due to the proximity to the train tracks, it's pretty much impossible to sleep with the window open, and the room gets very stuffy as a consequence. The wifi was a nightmare to connect, took so many attempts that both me and my wife just preferred to use mobile data instead.
