In the market town of Harleston, in the idyllic surroundings of the Norfolk and Suffolk borders, this 15th century coaching inn offers comfortable, modern en suite accommodation. Steeped in history, the hotel was restored in 1999 to a very high standard. All rooms are attractively decorated, well equipped and en suite, with an ambience of comfort and relaxation. Each attractive room is individually decorated and furnished, with its own unique charm and atmosphere. Breakfast is included in all of the room rates. The cosy restaurant has a real fire and offers freshly prepared meals made using locally sourced seasonal produce whenever possible. The menus changes seasonally to reflect the finest ingredients available locally and there is also an extensive and imaginative bar menu that changes daily. The traditional bar offers a range of authentic local ales, premium lagers and a fine selection of wines by the glass or bottle.
Room was quite noisy as above the bar area which was open until 1-30
The room was very hot and wasn't ready when we arrived despite us requesting early check-in. The staff were very polite, but the room was very very small, with no full length mirror. We felt it was expensive.
Very friendly and accommodating staff Good food Wonderful rooms and very clean
Although rectified satisfactory there was a problem with the initial booking, I was informed that on one of the nights there wasn't the single room for my daughters stay - even though this was booked. But it was rectified satisfactorily and also a deduction was made for inconvenience.
Although first impression was good our stay here can only be described as awful. The hotel failed to inform us that the bar downstairs rained open till the early hours. The noise continued till 2.30am!!!!!
Very friendly, clean. Good food.
Room was above music on a Saturday night but I suppose if you stay in a pub/hotel you have to expect this.
The staff were very polite and friendly and breakfast was excellent.
The room was very cold when we checked in, it was also small and so was the bed, which was too soft for me. Conditions in the bathroom were positively artic.
Very pleasant and helpful staff Good breakfast Convenient parking
Room was small, cluttered and very hot. Air conditioning was available but had not been switched on prior to our arrival. Room was over kitchen so this added to the heat, smells and noise. I believe we were the only residents in the hotel that night so it was surprising that we were given what must surely be the worst room in the hotel!
Hotel and room facilities, cleanliness etc.
Lack of staff on reception. None of the taxi numbers provided were still in service. Wasn't informed about the need to know a code to get back into the hotel after dark so was locked out at 1am!
Great, friendly service. Good breakfast.
