Location is not bad, since it's on Waikiki. It was about as cheap as any other hotel I could find on Waikiki.
I was in Honolulu for a 22 hr layover and picked Maile Sky Court because all the hostels were booked out. It was one of the cheapest I could find on Waikiki at short notice. I thought I would get a nice view since it's a tower and the wired internet access sounded like a good idea since I had work to do. The view would have been great except the window of my room was so dirty and scratched that you could only see clearly with your face right up against the glass. The wired internet costs $10 for a day and was SO SLOW. I had some work to do and wanted to stream some TV shows afterwards but I ended up tethering my laptop to my phone instead. That's right, the T-mobile cell network was about 10-100x faster than the wired internet. I went for a swim in the pool, which is about the size of your average back yard pool and was in need of some maintenance (broken tiles, etc). The spa/jacuzzi had yellow police style tape around it so I assume it was out of order.
The amount of tour groups coming through the hotel throughout the day was ridiculous. It makes checking in, checking out, and even getting an elevator to the room take forever.
Not too far from the beach, have parking space, check in pretty fast, nice staff
Small room, smell bad, old TV, lousy AC and lousy bathroom from sucking machine
Location and staff were great. If you need a place to sleep this will work fine. Safe location near everything. Otherwise dont stay here for your first Hawaiian dream vacation.
"Resort fee" (for coffee, DVD player, safe, newspaper) of 10 or 15 per night. Not really needed. Parking is 25 dollars per day. Rooms need updating and feel dated. Price sometimes reflects a higher star hotel relative to what you really get.
The restaurant VI's downstairs is EXCELLENT!!!! THE FOOD IS GREAT, service is excellent & the ambiance PERFECT!!! Too bad the hotel is just the opposite!!! The BIG guy downstairs was VERY NICE & HELPFUL AND KIND!!! Jake at front desk was VERY HELPFUL, PROFESSIONAL & THOROUGH!!!!
The room had broken lamps, the place was dirty in kitchen bathroom and bed had someone else's a PANTIES IN IT AND UNDER THE BED!!! Really?! Who cleans this?! NO ONE!!! The movie directions were wrong and machine was broke and it took 5/hours and 3 calls to the SAME GUY AT THE FRONT DESK TO GET THE MOVIE BOX WORJING AND WE INLY USED UT BCUZ WE WERE FORCES TO PAY FOR IT ANYWAY!!!
Close to beach and affordable!!
Not updated but simple and clean
My second time there and looking to come back! Great location, more than descent hotel, no luxury but its just right. Not dirty, not rundown. I would give it def more than 2 stars.
That it doesnt have a minibar but no problem
Location makes this hotel a good bargain. Make sure you get the upper floors facing towards Waikiki Beach for a nice view. Prices are cheaper compared to other hotels around the area in Waikiki and it's worth it. The lobby has a modern Koi fish pond which was fancy and the room I checked-in was decent. The TV was not HD and was probably less than 20" but they had a good amount of channels. And if you wish, they had a PS3 that was hooked up for you to be able to watch DVDs where you could rent movies in the lobby right next to the elevator entrance. Room service was on point and customer service was pretty good. A/C worked nicely and the bath tub is nice after a long day if you're by yourself.
I would not recommend this hotel if you are on a honeymoon or on a romantic get-away and luxury and comfort is your prime concern. Note that Wi-Fi is only in the lobby and to get the best service you might have to pay out-of-pocket. There are two sets of elevators on each side of the elevator entrance, dividing the hotel basically in half. In order to get to the other side of the hotel, you have to go all the way down to the 1st floor and use the elevators on the other side of the elevator entrance. Pretty confusing but you will get it once your there. It shouldn't be a problem aslong you get seperate rooms on the same side of the hotel. Another thing is how the rooms are set up. I am not sure if it is like this for all floors but in my case, I was booked on the 25th floor, but the only way to access my floor was to take the elevator to the 26th floor and find my way down a flight of stairs to get to my room; It was kind of like a maze with 3-4 rooms where the flight of stairs took me down to. It wasn't anything serious but it made me wonder who designed this hotel in the first place...
There was nothing I liked about Maile Skycourt
The pictures of the room on their website is totally bogus, the room was literally a closet with a bathroom in it, there were roaches crawling on the pillows, the carpet was dirty, the walls were dirty amend knicked
