The hotel's location alone constitutes a luxury, situated at the very center of Madrid. Hotel Ritz by Belmond is located between the beautiful Retiro Park, the elegant Teatro de la Zarzuela, and Madrid's most important museums - the Prado, the Thyssen Bornemisza and the Centro de Arte Moderno Reina Sofia. The hotel is within walking distance from the financi...

Staff was delightfully enthusiastic. Setting was beautiful!

The beds were amazingly comfortable, the housekeepers were not only very amusing but extraordinarily nice. The hotel was insanely clean and had a very comfortable feel to it, as if a lot of fancy people had been through it over the years. The location is good, but not great, for accessing most of the touristy stuff in Madrid. But I found the Prado (directly beside the Ritz) to be horrifically overcrowded compared to some of the other museums like Sofia Reina just down the street. Note: Not really easy to access via metro, I'd recommend taking a taxi to/from.

Take the following review with a grain of salt. I am a young person who grew up poor and wanted, for once, the "Ritz" experience: While I am a big fan of trying new things, I have to say that the Ritz experience just wasn't for me. I don't mean to be crass, but if I had a fistful of fives - I can think of a few places I'd rather spend it than tipping the endless stream of people trying to help me with things. Additionally, there is a little doll that you place on your door if you do not wish to be disturbed. Note: Don't leave the doll up for very long, because if you do, they will call your room until you answer so that they can ask when the next time they can come in your room is. I nap maybe... 2-3 times per year at most, and I am severely irritated that they felt the need to call during my biannual nap to ask me when they can come in my room. Instead of changing my sheets 3X per day, how about leaving me the hell alone when I have my DO NOT DISTURB DOLL up? Perhaps I am not cut out for the lifestyle, but I don't want/need people treating me like a helpless child, yet simultaneously making me feel "lower" than they are. Every time I offered a "no thanks, I don't need a taxi, I'm walking" or walked into the hotel from the street, I received these weird looks of incredulity/disdain that I didn't particularly care for. When I brought my own luggage downstairs on checkout I absolutely horrified the front desk attendant. Why the need to treat people like this? I have no idea. My recommendation? Take the $500 per night you'd spend here for the standard room and split it in half. Take $250 / night to spend on some other hotel's suite. Take the other $250 and stick it back in your pocket.

Paula, ably assisted at night by live-in Noelia, gave us the best, most comprehensive introduction to any place we stayed. The location, off Plaza de Las Cortes, was a superb, next to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, a block from the Prado (free from 6-8 pm on Saturdays) and close to El Retiro park for joggers. Rooms were tiny but quiet (we never heard the large demonstrations against unemployment that Friday night). An elevator takes you to the seventh floor and security is good. Wifi is available without charge, as is a basic breakfast, but parking is quite expensive in a nearby garage (since there is little street parking available) at $32 Euros/night, which is in addition to the ----Euros/night for the room. Nearby, restaurants were plentiful and inexpensive.

Gold Standard. Built at the direction of King Alfonso XIII in 1912, The Westin Palace, Madrid was recently restored to its original splendor. Set near the Prado, notable museums, and historic monuments, it was ranked as the #1 hotel in Spain in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2008 Gold List. Royal Inspiration. Five star. Our suite was just delightful and the staff couldn't die more accommodating. Great rate for a 5 star hotel, a bargain actually.

The Westin Palace is a large, gracious, old historic luxury hotel, very conveniently located near the Prado Museum. The reception staff was efficient but not warm or friendly. The Concierge service was perfunctory at best. Adjacent to the lobby is a beautiful, large atrium,'La Rotonda,' with a bar, tables for tea or drinks and cafe- a wonderful place to relax with a cocktail and people-watch. The rooms have been updated with comforable beds and beautiful marble bathrooms. We booked a deluxe room but it was basically a standard room with no view. No pool. Breakfast was not included and is very expensive unless it is included in your package. We ate meals at restaurants outside the hotel. The Westin is a good choice on arrival to recover from jet lag, a safe, comfortable, reliable place to sleep and good place from which to venture out to more affordable, personable and interesting venues.

The location is excellent. Our Apartment was spacious by European standards. The complex consists of owner occupied apartments and rental units. As a result, there isn't a lot of concierge-type service. As long as you plan accordingly, you'll be OK.

Prices are either the average per night price per room or first night of stay. You can select to display the prices with or without our estimate of taxes & fees (which may not appear on provider's booking page but will be charged at hotel checkout). Before you complete your reservation, verify the total cost on the provider's site. Prices and availability are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tons of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car rentals can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.

More questions or if you have a bad price to report to us
Please send us an email and someone from our team will get back to you promptly.
