Car Rental

All rental car desks are located in Terminal 1 on the basement floor. Companies available at the airport include Auto Europa, Avis, Easycar, Europcar, Hertz, Locauto Rent, Maggiore, Sixt, Targa Rent, and Thrifty. Rental desks usually open at 7am during the week and at 8am on weekends and close between 10pm to midnight on weekdays depending on the company. On weekends, passengers should be aware that Easycar closes at 4pm. Rental cars are perfect for tourists who want to explore the countryside at their own pace.

Public/Ground Transfer

Buses run from Milan Malpensa Airport to Bergamo, Bologna, Brescia, Castelnovate, Chiasso, Como, Domodossola, Gallarate, Genova, Lago Maggiore, Lugano, Milan, Turin, and Verona. Transportation via the Italian bus system is generally the lowest in price and suits the needs of most travelers, though there is usually a limit on the number of bags that can be transported. Buses leave from the station in front of Terminal 1 starting at 5:30am and ending at 1 am, though in peak travel season, there are earlier buses. Travel time depends on the final destination. Expect a trip into Milan to take around an hour. Ticket prices start at 5€ ($7) into Milan. Areas that are farther from the airport logically will cost more. Tickets can be purchased at the Agenzia Autostradale in arrivals or directly from the bus driver.

Malpensa Express leaves Terminal 1 every half hour and travels to Cadorna Station in Milan in around forty minutes. From Cadorna Station, passengers can take subways or other trains to their final destination. A one-way ticket from Milan Malpensa Airport costs 11€ ($15.20) per adult and 5.50€ ($7.60) per child. Tickets can be purchased in Terminal 1 or once on board the train. Purchasing tickets on board the train will cost an additional 2.50€ ($3.50).

Airport Shuttles

A free airport shuttle brings passengers from the airport parking garages to their terminals. This service runs every twenty minutes making it easy for passengers to get from one area to the next. In addition, there is also a shuttle that takes passengers from Milan Linate Airport to Milan Malpensa Airport or vice versa. The shuttle that travels between the two airports runs eleven times per day and costs 8€ ($11).

Limousine Services

The comfort and room found within a limousine cannot be topped, but limousine service is generally the most expensive option. Within Terminal 1 at Milan Malpensa Airport, ALA Limousine Association, CTM, Promoter, and Fly Business Center all offer chauffeur service. ALA Limousine, Promoter, and Fly Business Center are all found in the T arrivals B area on the ground floor. CTM is found in the T arrivals A area on the ground floor.

Taxi Services

Most tourists warn against taxi transportation from the airport to the city of Milan. On a good day with normal traffic, the taxi ride will cost 75€ ($108). Taxi travel is direct because other passengers are not being dropped off ahead of your stop, but it is costly. In addition, there is a limit to the number of passengers and bags that the taxi companies can carry without an additional fee.
