Montreal Airport Transportation Services

Passengers have a number of options for transportation to and from the airport. Each option offers a range of prices and advantages. Downtown Montreal is a short distance from the airport, but passengers should keep in mind that Montrealans speak French, so it is important to make sure the driver is English speaking or language barriers might come into play.

Car Rental

Eight car rental companies can be found within the Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport-Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty. In Montreal, a credit card is required for all car rentals. Debit cards are not accepted by the car rental agencies. Most of the car rental agencies do offer unlimited mileage making it easy for passengers to do some sightseeing.

Car rental agencies will want to see passengers' current photo drivers license and a credit card that has enough open funds to secure the car rental without maxing out the credit card.

Public/Ground Transfer

City buses are run by STM (Societe de Transport de Montreal). The bus route 204 runs daily from Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport to downtown Montreal Pointe Claire). Fares cost $2.60 one-way. Passengers can wait outside the arrivals terminal for the next bus. A list of stops can be found on their website.

For passengers who are headed outside of Montreal to Ottawa, Gatineau, Three Rivers, Saint Foy, or Quebec City, there is bus service available. Greyhound takes passengers from the airport to either Gatineau or Ottawa. They depart the airport several times per day starting at 11am. Tickets can be purchased in the passenger drop-off at the International Arrivals level. Schedules and prices can be determined by talking to the help desk at 514-843-4231 or asking at the booth in arrivals.

Orleans Express will take passengers from the airport to Three Rivers, Saint Foy, or Quebec City. They depart the airport several times per day starting at 11am. Tickets can be purchased in the passenger drop-off at the International Arrivals level. Due to the distance involved the bus fares will be higher, but it beats trying to navigate the busy Montreal streets. Call 1-888-999-3977 or ask at the booth in arrivals for schedules and prices.

Airport Shuttles

L'Aerobus is a small company run by a small group of Quebecois. The air-conditioned buses leave the airport every half hour and makes stops at the Montreal Central Bus Station and three popular hotels--Chateau Champlain, Queen Elizabeth, and the Sheraton. Tickets can be purchased in the Arrivals level of the airport. One-way tickets cost $13.25 for adults, $12.25 for seniors, and $11.25 for children aged 5 to 12. Round trip tickets are also available at $23 adults, $20.65 seniors, and $16.90 children aged 5 to 12. Children under five ride for free on an adult's lap.

Limousine Services

Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport had made special arrangements with some area limousine companies to arrange transportation from the airport to any destination within downtown Montreal for a set fee of $47. Passengers who would like to arrange limousine service to or from their hotel should call 514-394-7377. While this is the most expensive option, it is also the most comfortable and luxurious. Limousine service is a must for newlyweds!

Taxi Services

Taxi service is available right outside the arrivals terminal. Passengers need only walk up to the dispatcher's booth and request a ride to their destination. The dispatcher can also help arrange taxi transport for the handicapped. All airport taxis are regulated by the airport, so fees will not vary. The fee from the airport to downtown Montreal costs $32.85. Cab fees to other destinations are charged by the meter. Due to local laws, taxi drivers can accept payment by Canadian currency or credit card only.
