In 1971 we journeyed northward to Montreal on our honeymoon. Forty years later we journeyed again northward to Montreal and stayed at the Bonaventure. The three nights were a delight from the moment we arrived! The friendliness of the employees, the quaintness of the restaurants, the indoor-outdoor pool, the gym facilities, the view of the gardens and the cleanliness of the room make us want to tell all our friends of our experience! Thank you Hilton Montreal Bonaventure for reminding us of the many reasons why we came to Montreal for our honeymoon!
Overall our stay here was good. The rooms are well equipped with modern style. We upgraded to the Executive level which granted us access to the ''lounge'' to enjoy great appetizers and cash bar for drinks at night, and a great continental breakfast. The employees in the lounge were fantastic. But the lounge is like a closet, kind of hidden and not a place you want to hang out in for too long. Worst part about this hotel: the stairs -- and there were only 5 of them, but it really made our stay frustrating. The entire lobby/pool/restaurant area is on one floor, and all the hotel rooms are either 5 steps up, or 5 steps down. When you have a baby carriage or other wheeled device, you've got to carry them up the small flight of stairs each time you leave/return to the room. Don't use the Concierge. They were absolutely no help to me and my family, sending us to an expensive restaurant that was child-unfriendly, when I asked for a place that was loud and ok for my 9-month old to ''be he...

I was in town for a conference at the nearby Palais de Congres and was pleasantly surprised to receive a free upgrade to a top-floor room with a balcony! The bed was very comfortable, and the staff and service were excellent. Now only if they offered free internet. I'd definitely recommend this hotel, particularly those who will be attending conferences at the Palais.
I am a regular guest of this hotel and I can say that they are the best!! The service is excellent! Each and every employee is willing to help, they smile and they take the time to make sure that everything is perfect for you! The decor is gorgeous and the ambiance is very cool! You get the wow factor! The hotel is very clean and they pay attention to details! The location is perfect, you can walk to go everywhere and you have direct access to the subway! If you go to the Wunderbar or Plateau Bar make sure your try 'a la rose' this is my favourite cocktail!! It is incredible! The breakfast at Otto is very good too! I am a 'hard to please customer' so... if I say this hotel is perfect it is because it is perfect :-) I always stay at luxury hotels and this hotel is the definition of luxury! Have a nice stay!

The location was convenient and the staff was professional.
The place is terribly dated and worn. The bathrooms are tiny and a mishmash of finishes. Sink was cheap! Wallpaper was peeling. Lobby is bland, worn and devoid of personality. It is a large, convention hotel that is coasting on the Fairmount reputation.
The shower was amazing, location was perfect.
Rooms were small, no cot option, room wasn't ready until nearly 5pm.

Enjoyed our stay and the location to old Montreal was perfect. exit from back of hotel and walk 2 blocks and you are at the notre dame. we loved walking around there with lots of little shops and restaurants. Parking on street behind hotel for $16.00. Our car was safe there. Lost a star for no free Internet in room.
As much as we would have loved to have stayed in an classic old hotel in the historic district, we needed to find a hotel close to the historic district that had one specific modern amenity (a fitness center). It is hard to go wrong with an Intercontinental hotel, they are a global company with a good reputation. That being said, each Intercontinental hotel is unique so you never know exactly what you'll find. The Montreal Intercontinental was a very nice choice. The rooms were spacious, clean, had a great view of the city, and was within easy walking distance to the heart of old town. Oh, there was even an absinthe bar in the lobby, which was a pleasant surprise. If I had anything bad to say about the hotel, it was the fact that they charged for internet access ($15 per day...which was almost as much as the daily parking fee). Having stayed at a competing hotel chain the night before with free internet access, it is often hard to reconcile the notion that any hotel in the 21st ...

Our stay at the Westin was everything you would expect from a hotel of that caliber, and the location was perfect ... walking distance from everything in Old Montreal including many neat shops and restaurants.
We enjoyed out weekend stay at the westin. The location was very convenient, just steps from the old city and a short walk to downtown. Room was spacious and immaculately clean. Buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant was also good.

The location cannot be beat, close to the Vieux Port, the Bell Centre, St. Catherine's Street, the Quartier Latin, as well as public transportation. The price is excellent. Clean, large rooms, with comfortable beds.
The breakfast was adequate, especially considering it is included, but could definitely have been better.

The Hotel Le St. James is one of the best hotels in the world in terms of rooms, service, food and the exceptional quality of attention that is lavished upon guests. The rooms are adorned in wonderful period pieces, ranging from contemporary in the superior rooms to 19th century masterpieces in the heritage suites. The room service, afternoon tea and dining at XO are of the highest standard. I have stayed many times and the nice part about the staff is that they remember every single detail from my previous stay. The price isnt cheap, but if compared to other hotels in Montreal the choice is easy. If you want super contemporary stay at the W. If you want the classic hotel experience comparable to some of the best hotels in Europe, stay at the St. James, you wont regret it.
Just returned from trip with my husband and friends to the Canadian Grand Prix. 3rd year at the St. James, and just as wonderful this time around. The hotel is beautiful, sophisticated, private, and the staff completely caters to your every need. We had room service every morning with fabulous eggs benedict and cocktails in the library every evening with a wonderful server who remembered our names and drinks. Our suite was fabulous with a soaking tub and the most sumptuous linens available. The whole place actually smells fantastic...I don't know how they do it. It truly is my most favorite hotel ever, and Montreal is one of my favorite cities. So much fun, and the St. James is the icing on the cake. Stay here if at all possible!
