Overview

Guests will have the time of their life at this beautiful Appalachian Mountain hotel and resort that is the setting of the pop culture classic “Dirty Dancing”. The lodge sits in the middle of a 2,600 acre nature preserve, offering plenty of rustic accommodations for guests that include lodge rooms, cabin rentals, and cottages. The Main Stone Lodge offers 43 guest rooms, while the Chestnut Lodge building includes 16 rooms. There are also nine mountain homes available on Blueberry Ridge, as well as eight rustic cabins and nine cottages scattered throughout the grounds.

Mountain Lake Lodge relies on the beauty of nature and the altitude of the mountains to keep things cool, with no air conditioning available in any of the resort properties or buildings. Although they skip modern air conditioning for the sake of historic charm, the Lodge doesn’t hold back with other amenities. Guests can enjoy an on site pool and restaurant, fitness center and gym, hot tub, free WiFi and wired internet, and pet-friendly accommodations. In addition, there is a banquet room and a number of conference and meeting facilities ideal for business conferences, weddings, and other special events.

Guests of the Lodge can visit plenty of nearby attractions and find plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy without traveling far. Cascades National Recreation Trail is just a few miles away, as is the Sinking Creek Covered Bridge. Mountain Lake Adventure Center is about half a mile from the lodge, while shopping, culture, and entertainment can be found in nearby Blacksburg, which is about eight miles from the hotel.

Pros (+) A beautiful place with lovely grounds and also the place where Dirty Dancing was filmed. Old but nice inside and out.
Cons (-) No cell service which wasn’t really a problem but an inconvenience. Free WiFi helped.
