Overview

The Ocean Beach Hotels Fire Island Hotel is located only a few feet away from the beaches of Long Island on Fire Island, New York. The hotel was built in the early 1900s as a space for the Coast Guard and brings that old charm together with modern rooms, cottages, and suites. This hotel offers 42 non-smoking, air-conditioned guest rooms. It can be reached 10 miles from Long Island MacArthur Airport or is 34 miles from John F. Kennedy International Airport.

This hotel offers complimentary high-speed wireless Internet access, air-conditioned rooms, microwaves, refrigerators, and kitchenettes. A flat-screen television is provided along with cable channels. Amenities include access to the Fire Island National Seashore, tiki bar and grill, an outdoor pool, a coffee shop, and both al fresco and tented event space. Hurricane’s Bar & Grill is located on-site and offers up tons of menu items including local IPAs and appetizers.

There are a wide selection of restaurants in the area including Flynn’s Fire Island, CJ’s Restaurant & Bar, Rachel’s Bakery and Restaurant, the Island Mermaid, and Maguire’s Bay Front Restaurants. Surfs Out serves a selection of sushi and seafood dishes while Castaway Bar & Grill offers American cuisine and Town Pizza offers piping hot pie.

As far as entertainment and attractions go, there’s plenty to do near the Fire Island Hotel. Fire Island Parasail is a short walk away while Ocean Beach is just over a mile from the hotel. Other spots to visit include Robert Moses State Park, the Sunken Forest, and Fire Island National Seashore.

Cons (-) Please add hooks in bathroom for towels. Room need an extra console table by the door for keys, and nick nacks . Please please heat the pool, it will make a huge difference. I will probably stay longer or more weekends if the pool is heated

Pros (+) - proximity to beach - shared balcony with chairs - AC worked well - owner was very friendly/accommodating...when we saw him - we were able to drop bags early when we arrived and have them brought to the ferry when we left late
Cons (-) - room was tiny, with no desk or real place to put our belongings, we kept having to shimmy our bags around from bed to floor, etc when we needed to get stuff from our bags. Also no shelves in bathroom for toiletries. - room was updated last probably 25 years ago - tv was antenna, so we got no channels when stuck inside during storm - no deadbolt, but a hardware store doorknob...not the safest fee...

Pros (+) The bed was wonderful . Very comfortable and cozy. People were nice. Bar service was excellent.
Cons (-) Room was dark and cramped. Had room at end of building with view of wall and electrical transformers. There was no bedside light, no closet, no towel bars and no hair dryer. Very bare bones. For was very expensive and not very good. Hotel is overpriced based on lack of basic amenities.

Pros (+) Location great right near ocean beaches.
Cons (-) Units over priced as if it was a five star resort. Poor maintenance, pool cloudy, toilet broken. Food at restaurant is horrendous.
