Situated in the heart of Paris in the 14th arrondissement, the Villa Montparnasse is a perfect location from which to explore the charms of the left bank and the City of Light.
Travelers stepping into the Villa Montparnasse will be overcome by the hotel's elegant interior. The soft colors of its floors and walls offset by dark wood accents were chosen to give the hotel the feel of a colonial house. The interior is brightened by natural light and well placed greenery to give it an intimate and homelike feeling. Marble bathrooms, complimentary WiFi, onsite dining, dry cleaning and childcare, and a concierge service to help find the best spots in the city and make a stay here as convenient as possible. A free shuttle is available to the airport.
Visitors need only walk a few minutes to reach the Catacombs of Paris, an ossuary that twists and winds its way beneath the city streets, or the Place Denfert-Rochereau, a public square full of statues. Here travelers can see historic buildings, monuments and a bronze replica of the Lion of Belfort. The Louvre, one of the world's most renowned art museums, Luxembourg Gardens, and landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe are all within three miles of the hotel and can easily be reached via public transportation.
The bed was comfortable and the room was pretty. We had a balcony on the fourth floor which was a nice touch. Also the shower is big for a European hotel.
The light switches are a complicated puzzle consisting of two main switches that must be turned on at all times in order for any other night and a couple of plugs to work. We found one of the main switches on the first night. Unfortunately, on the last night we returned from dinner to discover none of our lights would turn on. When we requested help from the front desk, a guy came up, tried a few switches and basically told us "sorry about your luck." The next day I addressed the situation with the front desk and that's when we discovered the OTHER main switch that has to be turned on at all times. So when I asked the lady at the desk why the man from last night didn't fix it, her response was "well, he's new." Not a great answer. We didn't even recieve an apology. A disappointing end to an otherwise pleasant stay. Hopefully they will train new employees better in the future.
For the price, I was impressed. Definitely a budget hotel, so don't expect luxury. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom has a lot of mirrors which was nice. The employees at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. TV in the room was nice to have in the evening.
The elevator was extremely slow and left me waiting for a long time and the street below my window was kind of noisy in the morning. The hotel location is not near the major Paris attractions so you have to spend a lot of time on the metro.
Good location; helpful, good English speaking staff.
Shear, but not opaque shades on bathroom windows.
location small but nice rooms
very attractive location in nice neighbourhood in Montparnasse
small rooms, strange shower
the position of the hotel was excelent, the staff frendly
the price of the breakfast is huge, room very small
Nice original Decoration in commons, rooms and bathroom. Does not really feel like a hotel. A window in the very nice bathroom.
Pocket size rooms even though was a superior room. Cleanliness could be better in particular in Bathroom. Exotic prices for breakfast of very poor quality. Exotic prices for bar and mini-bar Was not told hotel became entirely non smoking. Badly sound proofed. Kept awake until 2.30 am from next's flat's party ?! Suspicious brown stains on bed cover. Average comfort in bed. Old shaby blanket as opposed to duvet and sheets could be of better quality
