Surrounded by mountains and native forests, on the slopes of the mythical Sueve Massif and in the incomparable setting of a valley where silence reigns, is the Palace of Rubianes Hotel & Golf, the result of the very personal, careful restoration of an old Asturias palace of unique and singular architecture, transformed into a modern, welcoming hotel. The restaurant, comfortable lounges and terraces are all full of unique, charming corners, while the bedrooms, styled by the Bilbao decorator Fernando Castellón, offer different ambiences and are designed for enjoyment at any time of year. The seasons follow one upon the other in the Palace of Rubianes without it losing any of its enchantment: In spring, nature bursts out and the air is filled with the scent of flowers. In summer, the sound of birdsong and the murmur of the river that surrounds us are an invitation to a restful, refreshing siesta. In autumn, the forests become yet more beautiful and the kitchen is provided with mushrooms, game and other delicacies, and in the winter there is no better sensation than to admire the white summits of the Peaks of Europe from the warmth of our Fireplace Room. The Palace of Rubianes Hotel & Golf has 23 bedrooms, of varying layout and style, divided into: singles, doubles, doubles with sitting room, and junior suites. These retain the antique feeling of the Palace while being equipped with the latest technologies We also offer a room fully equipped for persons with limited mobility, with beautiful views of our golf course and easy inside and outside access and the opportunity for adapted leisure activities.
We stayed one night (30 July) on our way across to Galicia, but would have booked additional nights after our experience. The property has been fitted to an excellent standard and the set menu was good value for money. a pity the restaurant appeared to be under utilised by the guests. Breakfast was plentiful. Our bedroom was on the top floor with a sloping and beamed ceiling, so care was needed to avoid banging our heads. Wonderful views can be had from the skylights with the sound of cowbells ringing from the hill farm on the other side of the golf course.
No air conditioning, but the skylights were adequate to cool the room. The hotel is in a secluded area so you would need to travel some way if you wanted to eat out. You need to watch out for the signs to find the hotel although the gps proved useful.
location, friendly staff, quality food, clean air, sound of cow bells, availabilty of walks directly from hotel
the difficult drive from the main road but that is not the hotel´s fault!
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was very, very quiet with stunning views of the Picos de Europa.
It's very difficult to find - they need more signs from the nearest main road.
Excellent value for money, evening meal was 1st class, stunning location and the freindly staff completed our stay.
Bedrooms with vaulted ceiling, although looked fantastic the height restriction was a back breaker!
Similar to staying with friends. Hotel staff very obliging and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Beautiful peaceful situation buried in the countryside. Perfect for those wanting to get away from it all with some luxury thrown in.
We were rather surprised by the amount of outside lighting left on all through the night. Difficult to stop the light coming in at night, a bit light city lighting. Not very echo- and disturbing when trying to sleep. Other than that - a perfect stay. Also it accepts dogs. However in your brief on the hotel it does not specify the cost for dogs, rather it indicates that one might or might not pay. In the event I was charged 25 euros a day, which I thought excessive and queried it. The owner agreed to halve the charge.
Great location, beautiful hotel
The restaurant was closed (which we were given no warning about) and there are no restaurants in close proximity
The setting was lovely and the hotel was very nice.
The food in the restaurant was OK but expensive for the qulity.
It is a verry peacefull hotel, rooms are nicly decorated, diner was good, breakfast is a buffet. Great view from the terrace on the mountains and golfcorse. The best hotel we stayed in during our trip.
No view from your room and no airconditioning. During the night you don't need a/c but during the day it would be nice.
Amazing location in the middle of the Asturian hills, beautiful building with all modern confort. Would highly recommend this hotel for relaxing a few days away from the city.
Breakfast could be improved to match the rest of the services offered.
