It was within walking (although long) distance of the convention center and had free parking.
Smelled like it was just flooded and no cleanup was performed. Bathroom door was so water damaged that it couldn't be closed. 'High Speed' wi-fi was barely .1 megabit and didn't improve after multiple calls (and lots of waiting on hold) to the support numFor the price I don't expect a whole lot, but I would think I could at least expect a room that doesn't smell like a flooded basement, has a working bathroom door, and has wi-fi that you pay extra for to actually work.
I liked the convenience and that it was one of the few lower priced places to have rooms available the weekend of lollapalooza.
It reeked of cigarettes despite being a 'non-smoking' room.Seemed kind of shady and unsafe. If I had a family, I wouldn't feel good staying here but we were 3 adults so we stayed out of convenience. Also, the metro is like 9 blocks away! WTF, if you've ever been to chicago, you know that 9 blocks is really like 3 miles away, not 'close by' at all. The room smelled like cigarettes and when we were getting ready to leave and doing the final check to make sure we didnt leave anything behind, we found two boxes of take-out left overs under the bed! Food was starting to rot so who knows how long that was left there. Like i said, don't stay here if you have a family and if you want to have a nice place to sleep in. for us, it was the only option because of all the city being booked bc of Lollapalooza music festival.
the clerk made me wait while she counted down her drawer and talked to the security guard.when she did wait on me and gave me my room key i could even say have a good night when she said thank you goodbye.would not be my first choice again.if it wasnt for the clerk i could have overlooked the age of this hotel by just turning off the light and locking the door.
The staff was amazing. They jumped at the chance to help out at every turn.
I'm not a fan of paying for WiFi. However, if I do have to pay I expect internet speeds to be above 56.6 dial up. Don't put ash trays with no smoking stickers affixed to them in non-smoking rooms. It has been a while since I stayed in a hotel like this. The non-smoking rooms retained the stench of cigarette smoke from the days where there weren't separate designations. The smell permeated my suit cases and clothing. The hotel is dated but not showing any real disrepair. The plumbing, HBO, and AC worked so I can have no real complaints for a Hotel that's xxx per night. You know what your are getting yourself into. But, once again, the ladies from check in, cleaning and check out really did their best to make the stay a pleasant experience.
price for what i needed it for
bathrooms need more space and toilet lidsNot a bad place to stay for a couple of nights.
