Size and comfort of rooms and the simple but quality food served in the restaurant.
Staff everywhere could not do enough for me, they looked as though they enjoyed working there. The professionalism and customer service was of a very high standard and the room was very comfortable and spotless. The location was ideal, just a short walk from the Train station and right in the heart of the city centre.
Room next to the lift (203 I think), meant that I had a slepless night which noise throughout the night. Room service was incorrect, asked for Clun sandwich to exclude avocado paste but arrived with. Asked for the 'soft package' for the mini bar (3 cokes, pringles & kitkat), only the beverages arrived and they were charged as full on my bill at a higher price than the package offer excluding the two items. Overall attention to detail was poor.
The design and materials used on the ground floor and its juxtapostion to the winter gardens are spectacular and an absolute treat to sit in the champagne bar, particularly at night time with the dramatic lighting effects. The view from my room on to the Peace Gardens was stunning. Reason for choice was availability in the price range I was willing to pay. Having stayed at this hotel I am likely to make it my first choice for future stays in Sheffield.
Not enough time to enjoy the spa facilities. The room rate we had obtained was excellent but the breakfast rate was not displayed anywhere we could easily find, we had to enquire at reception. Breakfast was overpriced compared to comparable alternatives available in the city centre.
The calm welcoming atmosphere.
Comfortable, friendly staff
Little things - such as not enough milk provided with tea/coffee making facilities - for 2 people - in the bedrooms; insufficient toiletries provided - although we had our own
staff was a bit scornful
It was quiet - could not hear doors banging, people talking in corridors, people banging around upstairs - it is the first time I have experienced such soundproofing and it was most welcome.
The view overlooking the peace gardens were stunning, location is perfect.
Too open plan, no definative line between the 2 restaurants, the bar staff were not very accommodating and it took 15 minutes to get a drink.
The beds were extremely hard.
