The courtyard/pool area was pretty. Our room was comfortable.
It was okay for an overnight stay on a road trip after12+ hours on the road, but it's in a bad, rundown (scary) area. We almost kept driving, but had prepaid for our room. It was so noisy that we had to keep the fan and a/c on all night to drown out the loud music and we weren't able to get much sleep.
Stockton has a great waterfront and this hotel captures that beauty. We stayed in the "King Suite", and it was roomy with an abundance of windows. Newer style is nice and the staff was nice, but not very competent. Asked for a late check out and it was granted after more than two calls.
Stay here at your own risk -- this is not the kind of place you'd want to venture out and walk around. The "King Suite" is basically two separate rooms at the end of a hallway. The room looked like it had been unkept and most of the carpet is stained.. and we found small bugs on our bedding (after we'd slept there). There's a hallway light that is part of the main lighting system, so it never turns off. Older style toilet, ours overflowed twice.
The room was very nice, comforters a bit big, but overall very nice. Huge bathroom, wow.
Location. Other than being next to the waterfront and directly across the street from the coliseum, the location was horrible. The limited menu in the inside restaurant with the high prices was discouraging. Tried to go find something close as an alternative, not. The delapitated downtown section offered no real alternatives for food options. So, reluctantly having no feeling of choice but to stay at the hotel to eat and paying 40 dollars for a quick lunch was a bummer.
The waterfront is located near a college/crime area yet it provides the security and serenity. The room deposit and the cable selection is not good... But if completely bored and you don't want to go to the movies rent the one you most want because your paying a couples price!!
I don't like that the clerks seem to harbor the rooms with a view even with prepaid reservations. In fact one clerk blatantly lied and on my next trip the new clerk was extremely nice. The two men clerks are not personable at ALL

The courtyard area was really nice. It had pool tables and fire pits along with nice patio furniture scattered around to enjoy.
All of the staff members acted like they did not want to be there. They were not helpful and seemed to even avoid guests so they couldn't be asked for anything. The bar tenders were very unhappy and impatient with guests. They need to be re-trained or replaced. It's really a shame because it's a beautiful hotel.
