The hotel was very comfortable. The service in the restaurant for breakfast was not good.
Nice spacious room and spacious general areas staff were very obliging. Could not control temperature in room which got very hot. But in fairness that is a problem a lot of older hotels have.
Leisure facilities £15 to pay for car parking. No mention of this until we had arrived. Staff could be a little overzealous. We received the bill for our evening meal before we had had our dessert and coffee and our table was cleared while we were getting our cooked breakfast
Received room upgrade. Very good service
Location was great. Very close to restraunts, parking, the Bournemouth Pier and Bournemouth Park However, if you are looking at the cheaper rooms you be better served by Premier Innnext door. Service was poor at the front desk and breakfast and breakfast whilst adequate was not at the quality I would have expected. Staff were very disjointed; my pregnant wife asked for some decaf-tea for our room and was advised "the bar might have some". Would have expected them to sort it out. Room location was in the back of beyond with stair only access. Cheaper rooms at this hotel not recommended.
I liked the atmosphere, facilities and the staff who were most helpful and friendly. I did experience some problems with accessing my room with the card that was provided to me. It often didn't work and this caused me some inconvenience. I would have been much better off with a good old fashioned key! However, the staff made every effort to resolve this problem by upgrading me to a different room with a sea view. I considered this to be outstanding customer service.
It was a disaster. We could not stay. We were given a room next to their waste hold area. The window would not open because all the rubbish bins were just outside. The room was tight and horrible. We left immediately. See our comments of 'what we liked'. Terrible hotel. Needs total modernisation, as location is good. Need new staff, training, etc. avoid staying there at all costs!
The breakfast was very delightful, lot of choices and they do cater for vegetairans and those who use soya milk. The spa facilities were good. However, I would say that the hotel needs refurbishment and some area needs modernisation. Being told that we are limited to one towel each by one particular member in the spa club. This was not the case with other staff members.
The buffet breakfast was superb, especially the honeycomb. Im the first room we were given the central heating was not wotking and we had to move to another room, but nobody came to help us with our luggage and we had to carry it all ourselves - not what one expects from a 4-star hotel especially as my wife and I are in our late seventies
good customer service rooms quite small
A very comfortable bed having to wait in line to get a breakfast table
old world charm but shows signs of fading service in Oscars restaurant fell well below expected standard
good location ,bags of character ,beautiful setting ,good breakfast nothing
Fantastic location, great staff and a very interesting building. Great value for money. Plumbing was a bit antiquated but that seemed to add to the charm. Very clean rooms. Recommended.
heating was not working in the room.
On arrival they had upgrade us to a superior room Found the breakfast area alittle large
the cooperative staff especially refreshing my memory from days spent in the building 1939-1941 as a school unclear signs to reception from the car park especially in the dark
room and service were excellent
This was our 10th. overnight stay for a booked function. Very good indeed
The room was a very good size. We dont really have any complaints.
Excellent service and very good food
Special surroundings, serviceminded staff, quiet and intimate atmosphere, interesting building & architecture, good food, huge room with fantastic view
Everyone was helpful & friendly. An ideal spot for all locations in the area.
Decor very very tired (corridors & bathroom) It was a typical old fashioned "seaside" hotel... the bathroom hasn't been changed since the 70's (nasty pink suite) and had a mouldy/damp smell. The room also felt extremely draughty and cold, despite the heating being on! The staff were friendly enough though. So to sum up, it is OK for one night.
when handing in my key the receptionist could not give me a receipt for the room have requested copy but by 6th July still waiting
Welcoming staff for English speakers but noticed lack of skill at reception for foreigners ie rapid, complex sentences, given once, no body language or reference to local town map etc. I saw two foreigners bemused despite being given instructions which only I could just follow. A little bit ot raining might help! Just a friendly observation - not meaning to be too critical!
The staff and the breakfast were superb. The bedroom smelt, believe it emminated from the mattress. Arrived late too tired not until next day the smell had ingressed into clothing. Decor poor and needs complete refurbishment.
a up grad of room free of carge noizy nabbears but was lookd aferter
This hotel offered free WIFI & Parking, and the room only cost £32! The receptionist was very helpful and friendly and I got a free room upgrade. The food in the diner was very good and well priced. Can't really work out why people were moaning, the price is fantastic and everywhere is very clean. Yes, the hotel is a bit dated but its comfortable and the cheapest around so well worth it for a short break. everyone stop moaning and pay more if you expect 5 star services At best, the floorboards outside my room were a bit creaky and there was no blind in the bathroom, which didn't particularly bother me
Central location very limited carparking hotel needs a make over, quite dated
we found the location ideal for the shops and theatre. The breakfast was very good and the staff very polite and friendly. creaky floorboards and the housekeeping staff started vacumming at 8.30 in the room upstairs. Also building work taking place although this was probably reflected in the price we paid.
the pool and sauna .breakfast the room was an insult ,bathroom outdated and very dirty shower unfit to use . plugs loose on walls wallpaper a disgrace ,torn and dirty.
yes as previous reviews - lift scary. hot water very hot and could not cool down shower. cold water warm. toilet cistern took long time to refill,
The shower was cold,in both rooms that i booked, & the radiator did not work in room 203
The bed. The view of sea. The alfresco eating around the pool The abcence of a shower. The lack of promised sauna in facilities advertised in sister hotel.
Sea view, pibic areas had been extensively refurbished. the bedrooms were not of a similar standard as the public areas and are in need of refurbishment.
Opulent public areas, excellent staff
Location was excellent and great value for money. Luxury stay and would definitely stay again. Added bonus of being upgraded but that shows the excellent customer service provided, would definitely recommend to friends and family
The room was fantastic and very comfortable Breakfast was very disappointing, not very edible
Relaxed atmosphere, helpful staff, good meals and good value for money Food portions a bit small
Hotel and room clean and warm and adequate. Breakfast good Although a warning was given water took a long time to heat up (more than 10 minutes for shower) and then only luke warm
Good location, great view from room with balcony and very friendly staff.
Great staff and comfortable hotel nothing
TV did not work
lovely hotel, great staff.good position, food very enjoyable.this was our second visit and it defenitely wont be our last!! bar prices.
We booked a superior room, but we would rate the room as standard. The shower was poor, the bathroom tiny, the door wouldn't lock, and overall just a standard room.
The Hotel was excellent, within easy walking of the BIC, and plenty of parking. The staff were excellent, very friendly, and service was very good. Our room was comfortable and quiet. A super selection for breakfast, overall a most enjoyable stay.
Friendly hote. Superior double was nicely decorated with little balcony- can't expect 'views' as surrounded by other hotels. Restaurant very good. Staff particularly friendly. Near enough to both prom and town. Would go back.
Meal served by friendly staff Room quite cramped
Both the staff and food were excellent. The bathroom needs modernising.
Freindly & comfortable
Quick and courtious service no smoking but will just have to get used to it as it will soon be law
Excellent views from the bedroom, staff pleasent and helpful, food good. Bed too small, and room very warm, could not open the window too wide because of the pidgeons.
The atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. The spacious seating area on the ground floor with plenty of comfortable sofas. The conservatory with magnificent views. Being given a room a room with a view of the bay. Last time we stayed, the view was of the bins and car park! The excellent breakfasts. Feeling at home in the hotel. No
good staff, good food cold bathroom; noisy in room
sea view rooms fabulous view very very quiet, need to have piped music or similar in the background, as you can hear everyone else's conversations in conservatory and lounge
The staff were efficient and keen to help,in particular Sophie the receptionist, who went out of her way to persoally contact me at home before travelling tosort out a mistake I had made when booking this hotel.
Stunning sea view, large room and a great view from atop the cliff Everywhere smelt of chlorine from the small, tired "spa" in the basement. Lots of areas were quite tired, dirty windows spoilt the view and the bar food was poor.
Excellent location. Excellent food Pokey little attic room. Tv inadequate. Toiled/bathroom just about room to use with care.
Lovely views Somewhat faded grandeur.
The setting and view
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The conservatory is very nice with views across swanage Bay The single room is small. The hotel is located approx 15 mins walk from town.
