8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, quiet and clean, it was a great place to stay before a wedding we were attending. A very short walk from the seafront and the owners were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Breakfast was good but not amazing. The sausages were a little bready and the eggs a little oily but it was hot, served nice and quickly and generally tasty. The welcome was friendly but a little over friendly in some respects. Silly jokes as soon as every set of people arrived left it feeling like a routine rather than a real welcome. Limited parking meant we were parked a couple of roads away.

Cons: Nothing actually.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located; warm welcome (with a cup of tea made for us plus biscuits); clean; local advice; tasty and sufficient breakfast.
Cons: A very small and cramped room - there were metaphorical cat claw marks on the wall!! Ha ha ha.

Pros: Breakfast was very good. Room very clean. It was very warm in the room but we were given a sheet as duvet was too warm. Good location. Nothing was too much trouble for owner. Walking book lent to us and she rang up to check waiting times on ferry for another guest. Fridge in room was good.
Cons: The bathroom is quite small. Hand basin was very small. Another shelf for wash bag needed. You are opposite the train station which is fine as trains stop early however buses carried on till after midnight. As it was warm we had to have the window open so noisy with people going home late in the evening

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, great breakfast and choice and a warm welcome. So much thought has gone into every detail. We had a great stay and would definitely book here again......soon I hope :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room very good, with good shower and TV. Being off road the location is quiet. Breakfast was outstanding in variety and quality. I have visited over 30 countries on business, and it certainly matched or exceeded anything a traveller will find in four star hotels.
Cons: The only downside is the parking. Unless you want to pay heavily for a public car park (which is not near anyway) then you have to scout around for free street parking. Not a major bugbear, but significant especially if you are not full able.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Central location to Swanage; great breakfast; clean and tidy room; friendly staff; good TV programme selection.
Cons: It was quite hot in the evening and so a fan would have been good in such weather. Shower could have been better as the water jet power was not great but just about adequate.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and welcoming with a great breakfast
Cons: It wasn’t clear that the shower was in the room, was sharing a room with a friend so more suited for couples

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to seafront, lovely breakfast, friendly, clean and tidy.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really comfy bed so I had a great nights sleep. Good shower and facilities in the room. Excellent breakfast, there was a good choice of fresh fruit, cereal, croissants and a full English. The location was perfect. I highly recommend and would happily return.

Cons: The shower was a bit cramped and the curtain kept sticking to your body.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We were well provided for at breakfast as vegans and gluten free guests. Nice heavy extra throws provided for those that like heavy warm bedding. Towels were lovely. Bed was clean and comfy. Great location for a stroll to the sea front or walks to Harrys Rocks and Studland.
Cons: There was only a half hour time slot which was between 8.15 - 8.45 so we felt a bit rushed and would have liked a lay in esp on Sunday.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean, breakfast was lovely!
Cons: We felt that the breakfast was lovely however the time restraint was not ideal as it was too early and too short of a period.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at YHA Swanage - Hostel in Swanage, you'll be by the ocean, within a 10-minute drive of Corfe Castle and Swanage Museum and Heritage Centre. Featured amenities include laundry facilities and a library.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly organised clean good parking great breakfast and snacks available very helpful staff
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient car park close by. Helpful staff, one lad even carried my suitcase downstairs whilst I carried bags. Ideal check in times. Relaxed environment with plenty of friendly people about. Nearly refurbished rooms, refreshed and very clean and comfortable, also a dual aspect room with seaview; can't complain about that. Numerous electrical sockets and light switches, even within bunk beds = ideal for reading and charging devices. Short walk to the seafront however very steep hill which is especially noticeable when walking back up but luckily it's not too far. Ice creams and vending machine available at the entrance; what you'll need after the walk up!
Cons: The front and the back doors remained open during the day which encouraged my two young children to run around the side of the building as soon as they got the chance. They were quite safe however I did have a scare the first time they did it when I couldn't find them quick enough. They were found outside the front doors playing on the grass area with seating but it's the type of building that provides lots of places to hide in. The motion sensor bathroom light is a good economic idea in general however annoying when taking a shower and the light automatically turns off after a few minutes, and also the sensor picked up the door to the room so it kept turning on unnecessarily.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: it was very clean and comfortable also there was no parking space and they let me park in the private parking space and leave my car even when it was time to sign out of the hotel
Cons: the walls are like paper you can hear everything thats happening in the other room and its hard to sleep
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Facilities, location, clean YHA, handy to have a landry room ...
Cons: The only downside was that we had a room opposite and next to a group of teenagers who were in the YHA for a few days with their football team. So we had a short night. They were up until 11.30pm - midnight and were woken up for a team activity at 5.30am. Both in the evening and early morning there was a lot of noise coming from their rooms and them "running" in the hall, plus a lot of door slamming ... so paying £59 was not worth at all the little sleep we got ! Can't there be a better allocation of rooms if there is a group staying ... no other guests in the same corridor? Inform guests beforehand that they are sharing a corridor with a group of teenagers? There qas no consideration from the boys regarding other guests. I spoke with some of them both at night and early morning but it did not make a difference.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great staff . Immaculate. good food ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cons: The hill to walk back from the beach
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff were pleasant, the showers were nice and the breakfast was great! :-)
Cons: The noise from the fire doors was very loud, and kept me awake!! :-(
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean rooms, good location, private parking, Nice powerful shower
Cons: Not much space in the fridge
7.5 Good
Pros: Comfy beds, very clean
Cons: Sink blocked easily
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location and friendly staff perfect for family break away
6.8 Good
Pros: We used the very good self catering facilities. We were able to go and join the rest of our group in the dining hall to eat our breakfast.
Cons: There was nowhere to put anything in the rooms. The lockable cupboards were miniscule. Maybe some shelves at the very least would have helped. Especially if we hadn't all known each other in the 4 bed en-suite room. As there is no door to the toilet and shower area getting up in the night to go to the toilet disturbed the other sleepers because the fan and light come on automatically. ( obviously a saver of energy, I understand).
The Pines Hotel - Swanage - Beach

8.8 Excellent (1,197 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Swanage, The Pines Hotel is a 1-minute drive from Swanage Beach and 5 minutes from Durlston Country Park. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and an elevator (lift). Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely location with steps down to the beach.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is excellent. Very wide choice. You can make it as simple or as full as you choose. Plenty of staff at hand to serve you. I love the location. There is direct access to the beach - if you don't mind 140 or so steps. It's very quiet. It's a nice walkable distance from the town - enough to walk your dinner down! There is a private gate onto the coastal path which saves quite a long walk via the streets.
Cons: I found the dining room very stuffy and lacking in air. There needs to b e more ventilation. I could only see one window that opened and it was a large window which would possibly make it unpleasant for those right next to the window. There is a fire door which probably shouldn't be opened but it did give some relief for a time until because it was very windy it kept blowing shut. I would have quite liked a small fridge in the room to keep water and fresh milk (provided by the hotel) cool. Would have quite liked the option of a sheet in addition to the duvet as I get quite hot at night and don't want the duvet all the time. I didn't ask for one and I'm sure if I had the hotel would have obliged.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent and the staff could not do enough for you. The location is amazing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is stunning . The breakfast offered a variety of , cooked to order, choices, not just full English. The dinner menu was different each day and the variety and quality was good and the staff very attentive. The room was clean and beds comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back
Cons: The bathroom door was bifold and wouldn't stay shut if window open . It could not be locked. The panoramic garden had tables and chairs but no sunloungers . It would have been lovely to be able to relax and soak up the view on a hot day.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was fantastic. Spacious, clean, beautifully furnished, en suite tea/coffee (why don't more places do this?!?!?), and a magnificent sea view. The bed was large and comfortable and the breakfast had a huge choice, all excellent.
Cons: That we could not stay longer....
5.5 Okay
Pros: It is right next to the sea.
Cons: Terribly overpriced for a 3 star hotel with tiny rooms. The 'beach' it is next to is rather unappealing. Rather poor value for money.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable & clean room. Very welcoming and accomodating host. Nice cooked breakfast.
Cons: This is a family home. It is a bit unusual in my experience of b&bs to have so many people in the house, and absolutely fine of course but we would have like to know more about which parts of the house we could / couldn't go. Just a quick intro when we arrived would have been great.
7.5 Good
Pros: The full English Breakfast was good, and our table in the dining room was OK
Cons: The uncooked selection was a little limited, would have liked a fruit selection.

5.8 Okay
Pros: Loved the location and main bar and common rooms. The bathroom was nice and the breakfast was excellent.
Cons: No WiFi and lack of power points in the rooms. The one TV was tiny and there were only one pillow each in the second bedroom.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location is perfect
Cons: Very tired and dated ... not great and expensive for the condition of the property. Staff also seem a mixed bag. Head waiter to busy sucking up to an old boy who had been coming for 12 years rather than looking after everyone
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location with a footpath to the beach; massive bathroom
Cons: Some of the outside buildings could do with a paint job
6.8 Good
Pros: The location is fantastic. The swimming pool is very good too, and the area to sit outside near the Brasserie is lovely.
Cons: The quality of the cooking was below expectations, with the breakfast very average, and dinner underwhelming. The lady on reception was also not that friendly and welcoming. I appreciate she was under stress with a lot of work, but still.... Had also expected a much bigger and more comfortable bed for the amount we paid for the room. It was not as pictured.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The character and ambiance of the hotel set in a stunning location.
7.0 Good
Pros: Rooms were more modern than the outside looked. Pool was nice and looks of other things to do such as tennis.
Cons: Needs a bit of tlc in general.
7.5 Good
Pros: We loved the location, the view overlooking the sea, food was good and the deserts spot on. The staff could dial up their warmth a level though. The furry family members are all welcomed and nobody complains about them barking, that deserves 10+
Cons: more attention to detail is needed when they do cleaning and replace used cups in rooms, remove plates and other items left outside on tables in the gardens. Also there could be a rule for girls to tie up their hair when using the pools, stranded hair in water is not pleasant at all.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: BREAKFAST WAS PRETTY GOOD, BREAD WAS THE ONLY THNG THAT WAS NOT GREAT, BUT OTHERWISE A SOLID AND GOOD BREAKFAST WITH FRESH EGGS COOKED TO ORDER. GREAT THAT THE HOTEL IS HAPPY TO LET DOGS STAY, MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE FOR US PET OWNERS! LOCATION IS REALLY FANTASTIC, UNRIVALLED ANYWHERE ON THE ENGLISH COAST.
Cons: THE HOTEL IS LOVELY AND STAFF PRETTY GOOD OVERALL, FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL, BUT HOTEL IS A LITTLE TIRED. THERE IS A REDEVELOPMENT PLANNED, WHICH IS NEEDED, THAT SAID, WE HOPE IT DOESN'T BECOME TOO SWISH, IT HAS GREAT CHARACTER!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location. Hotel was very clean and staff very pleasant. décor a little dated but we found that was an attraction - felt we were stepping back a few years! - Very relaxing. Right near lovely beach and coast area. Easy access to Swanage.
Cons: We really loved everything! Not for those who like new, modern hotels but that was its charm. Great for families!

Cons: The plumbing was awkward but difficult with a listed building.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: Old & dingy decor
5.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast choice and the breakfast staff were excellent
Cons: The room had a musty smell to it , the shower was a joke with very little water. We have stayed at this hotel in the past and found it very nice but it seems it needs a good update and the facilities checked out. All the staff though were pleasant and made an effort to please.

Cons: Bathroom toilet not checked . Urine and hair down bowl. Needs memory foam mattresses

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and accommodating staff. Room was nicely decorated and clean. The location was excellent and there was parking available for us.
Cons: The bed was reasonably comfortable, however the duvet was too thick for this time of year which made us feel very hot in the night (even with the windows open).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely clean room and bathroom
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, great location the room was very clean and comfortable and it is great that you can take dogs with you
Cons: Parking can some times be a pain as their is only four parking spaces, the gate which you come through could be updated, as my husband caught his arm on a rusty hook.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: fridge in room x cosy room bathroom g ood size with wash stuff x coffee tea and potted milk. very friendly staff x
Cons: nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was about 5 minutes walk to the town centre and even less to the main beach in Swanage. We knew that breakfast wasn't an option but there are plenty of cafes in the town centre. Kettle, tea, coffee and milk supplied and shower gel and liquid hand soap and towels which were changed when we left out the sign for our room to be cleaned.
Cons: There were only 3 private parking spaces at the rear so there's no guarantee you will get one as there are 5 rooms. Railway Cottage is on the main road into Swanage so if you're in a room at the front and a light sleeper and like the windows open, you may have a problem sleeping. There is free parking in the side road but it does get full quite quickly. There is a large car park opposite Railway Cottage but I think the fee was £8.00 per day but free at night until 8.00 am in the mornings. My partner is 6'5" and I hadn't noticed there was an 'end' on the bed in the picture on the website (as in not a divan, but then we didn't get the room in the picture) but he didn't really fit! A hair dryer would have been useful - I normally take one with me and invariably there is one provided so I didn't take one on this occasion. I didn't like to bother the owners but no doubt they would have lent me one. I met one of them who was lovely when we were leaving.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was very good, close to seafront and all ameneties. Nice little front garden seating area
Cons: Mattress was uncomfortable and shower very slow but not major issues
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location - 5 mins walk from seafront and town. We stayed in the family room (double + bunk bed with en-suite) it was decorated really nicely with a modern seaside theme, very clean and tidy, comfortable beds and the en-suite was roomy for family to use. Easy checkin - received a text with code to lock-box, everything self-explanatory and only met owners when we checked out to pay (we personally loved this low-key style). A free parking space at rear of property was a bonus
Cons: Cash/cheque only - a bank transfer option would be better. No breakfast - but the info sheet for provided excellent suggestions for cafes in town (really enjoyed SaltPig). Only suggestion would be providing a desk fan in the room - we visited on a very warm and muggy weekend though!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly host but not intrusive Would definitely revisit
Cons: All very good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant location, very dog friendly and parking
Cons: Nothing

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly welcome, great location very near the beach just at the edge of the town centre so calm even during the carnival, nice rooms, great cooked breakfast.
Cons: As previous reviews, poor water pressure and beds a bit too soft.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice room and excellent breakfast!
Cons: Only 4 parking spaces for 10 rooms
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was lovely, really happy with the cooked breakfast & they accommodated for my dietary requirements without any issues. We had a baby with us too so the next morning they put a booster seat out all ready for us.
Cons: The little fridge, unfortunately it didn't keep anything cool, we were visiting during Swanage carnival and it was very hot, so we needed to keep the babies milk in there and it went funny a couple of times. I did mention this on check out, it's mainly feedback so they could replace this for future guests.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast very good and loved the fresh fruits
Cons: We asked for a pot of tea for 2 of us with breakfast but it was far too weak and as if water had not been boiled properly
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice room
Cons: Lack of parking hard to find spaces on road had to park in paying car park
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was superb . Fresh well chosen fruits well presented. Cooked breakfast excellent . The best full English have ever tasted. Coffee very good.
Cons: Only minor issue was parking , but not a problem.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great... choice and service. Location good for Swanage and out to Studland Bay.
Cons: Room not ready on arrival at designated check-in time. Poor water pressure leading to poor flush on toilet and just ok shower. Parking is first come first serve with a maximum of 4 cars with one blocked in and sensible close side by side parking. Needless to say we parked there once in a week! Quite a lot of parking within 5 min walk though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great fresh cooked breakfast with quality ingredients. The porridge option is also a great bonus.Nice touches of biscuits in a jar in the room and plenty of milk.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast menu.
Cons: Would have prefered to have a parking space available, but it was not too far to find one. Also for breakfast would have loved a cafetiere rather than the pot of filtered coffee kept warm on a hotplate.
