Hotel Iron Horse Amsterdam

Not a lot really.

Whilst I appreciate that Amsterdam hotel rooms are often small, the difference between the room I was in and the one friends were in was quite considerable. Ground floor room tucked behind reception with no ventilation, air con that didn't work, no window other than a roof light on which you had to open and close the blind with a metal pole. Absolutely tiny, mouldy grout in the shower. Bed very uncomfortable, too soft, tiny pillow. Take my advice pay a bit more and avoid this one.

Location is quite good. Although the road was a little bit noisy during summer nights. Staff was friendly and check-in experience was good. Room was clean.

One of the four beds had a bad mattress. Inside the family room on the 4th floor there is a very bright "emergency exit" light which cannot be switched off. The mirror in the bathroom needed changing.

Location and cleanliness.

Very very hot and beds were not the best. The air con was very weak. Evenutally worked out how to open a window and slept on floor by the window.

The location.

Room was not as advertised. Dimly lit. No horse picture in room. No nightstands. Toilet button broken so water kept running unless you pulled it out when done. The outlet by the desk didn’t work so had to use coffee maker on floor by the entrance where there was a working outlet and flat surface. Tripped when entering the room because there’s a step down not well marked - Room #14. Including photos of the quadruple economy room we booked, you can compare them to photos from website. Reached out to management, was told day later no other rooms available and they’re sorry for the issues and will have maintenance look into it. We were only there two days so maintenance didn’t look into it while we were there, though housekeeping did enter the room our first morning there and said we were on the list as checking out that day. Maybe just confusion but surprising nonetheless. Missing light in one of the hallways.
