I have nothing but praise for this hotel: the staff were pleasant and willing to help with anything. The rooms are very large and tastefully decorated. They are very comfortable. The beds are excellent and even - and this is very unusual - there are excellent rocking chairs. The hotel has about forty rooms spread over five floors and on the fifth floor there is a nice dining room, with a view of the old city. The breakfast was very tasty. The location and accessibility are excellent. The hotel is on the border of the old city and right next to the university. For those arriving at the train station, it is recommended to take bus number 30 and travel 3-4 stops. It is convenient to get on the bus with luggage and it leaves - and returns every few minutes. I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel.

Unassuming hotel in a great location just outside the old city so it was easy to stroll around the sights and we were close to restaurants. The hotel served an excellent breakfast in a sunny room on the top floor. There was an elevator.. Friendly,English speaking staff. Large rooms with ample closet space and good size bathrooms with good showers. We felt we’d found a winner.
No complaints at all.

The staff were so lovely when we arrived, we arrived early and were able to check in early, they gave us free fruit and went through a local map with us. They give you free bus/tram tickets. The location is beautiful, we had a balcony that overlooked the impressive Spalantor gate into the city, only a 10-15 minute walk right into the old town and the river. The bed and sofa were comfortable and the room was very clean. We loved Basel much more than we expected to.
Not a problem for us but the bathroom doorway in our room might be a bit narrow for larger or disabled guests.
