Before you read on, be sure to watch the first episode of KAYAK MythHackers. Already watched? Read on for the full breakdown.

For years, travel experts, the media – and anyone you ask – claimed booking flights on Tuesdays was cheaper. But is that *really* the case? On the latest episode of KAYAK MythHackers we get to the bottom of this widely held travel belief.  We used KAYAK to search four popular routes for two separate sets of travel dates (to reflect both weekend and weekday travel) every day for a week to see which days showed the lowest prices.

Spoiler alert if you haven’t watched the episode – Tuesdays are not the cheapest and no particular day was. In fact, prices from New York to London were actually most expensive on Tuesday for both sets of travel dates. See the full breakdown below.

The lesson? Don’t worry about the day of the week. Instead, track prices over time (set a Price Alert on KAYAK and we’ll do it for you) and when you see a great price, book it.

Methodology: Data is based on searches conducted on the KAYAK US site from 5/29/19 through 6/4/19 for Monday – Friday travel dates of 9/23/19-9/27/19 and Friday – Monday travel dates of 9/20/19 – 9/23/19. The origin for all searches was NYC with the destination airport for each city as follows: LAS (Las Vegas), LAX (Los Angeles), LHR (London), CDG (Paris).
