Passengers are allowed to carry shampoos, gels, creams, pastes, and other liquids each in a container not exceeding 100 ml (3.4 oz). They should all be packed in one transparent and sealed plastic bag with a maximum volume of up to 1 liter. Additional items should be kept in your checked baggage.

You can bring the following liquids on board with no restrictions:

  • Infant food to be consumed during the journey
  • Medication is to be taken onboard. It should be backed by a doctor’s prescription statement

Traveling with infants and carry-on rules for KLM

The number of carry-on bags you can bring for your child will differ if they don’t have their own seat. If you’re traveling with an infant (below 2 years old) on your lap, you can bring an extra carry-on bag weighing up to 12 kg (26.4 lb) with a maximum size of 21 x 13 x 9 inches (55 x 35 x 25 cm).

You can also bring a folding stroller/buggy with a maximum size of 5.9 x 11.8 x 39.4 inches (15 x 30 x 100 cm). The stroller can be checked free of charge if it does not fit in the overhead compartment or under the seat. If you reserve a seat for your child, you can bring a car seat, inflight bed, or leg-rest extensions. For car seats, you’ll have to contact the airline at least 48 hours before departure because of limited seating options.

What extra items can you bring on board?

Additional items you can bring onboard KLM flights include:

  • Some sports equipment of up to 118 in (300cm) (L+W+H) and not exceeding 23 kg (50.7 lbs) in Economy Class and Premium Comfort Class or 32 kg (71 lbs) in Business Class.
  • A musical instrument provided it meets the carry-on size and weight requirements. You can reserve an extra seat for your instrument if it weighs up to 45 kg (99 lbs).
  • A collapsible or foldable wheelchair that meets the carry-on size and weight requirements when folded. You should make a reservation when booking or contact the airline at least 48 hours before departure.
  • Walking stick of crutches. They should be placed in the overhead compartment.
