Holiday travel will look different this year. We won’t see airports as packed as we have in years past, but our search data shows that many will not stay home. Whether it’s for a special occasion (the holidays are fast approaching) or you just need to get away, if you’re going to do it, do it safely.
Our new, provocative PSA-style ads aim to grab travelers’ attention and make sure safety is top of mind when traveling. You’ll be seeing them in several major airports to ensure travelers who are en route to their next destinations are reminded of the importance of practicing these precautions in real-time. You’ll also see them on social media, where we know many of our followers are considering future travel. All in all, our hope is that this tongue-in-cheek, creative approach to illustrating the CDC’s guidelines will not only grab your attention – but also will give travelers the reminder they need to put safety first.
Not to mention, we’re doing this alongside our existing tools and resources aimed at helping users navigate health and safety policies and recommendations. Because we want to ensure you’re equipped with the information you need to travel as safely as possible.
3 things to remember before heading to the airport:
Wear a mask. Currently, all US airports and airlines require masks be worn by everyone over the age of two. If you’re traveling with a child, it can help to practice keeping a mask on ahead of time. If you’re an adult and don’t want to wear one, reconsider your plans until regulations change so that you are in compliance with the rules.
Bring hand sanitizer. While liquids typically need to be less than 3.4oz to carry on, hand sanitizer can currently be up to 12oz – but check requirements before you go for any changes. Also, keep in mind, if it’s over 3.4oz, it will require extra screening.
Social distance. Whenever possible, stay at least 6 feet away from other travelers. Follow instructions from airport personnel and pay attention to posted signs as you navigate more crowded areas like check-in or airport security.
