Passengers should please take note that airport authorized transportation shuttles, taxis, and limousines must have an airport decal displayed on their vehicle. Those without the sticker are unauthorized. Passengers should avoid the unauthorized vehicles because the drivers are known to try to rip passengers off with excessively high fares. Car RentalOften it is far easier for travelers to rent a car and then drive themselves to their final destination. Alamo/National, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, and Thrifty all have counters within the Atrium area in the Main Terminal. Other options (Airport Rent-A-Car, Atlanta Rent-A-Car, EZ RentACar, and Payless are located off the airport grounds and will require that specific car rental company to provide transportation to their agency. Rates will vary depending on the car selected and the rental period. Those with lots of baggage or time constraints will find rental cars to be helpful because they set the pace of their travels and do not pay fees for additional baggage. Public/Ground TransferGreyhound FlightLink is located in the lower level of the Main Terminal (North Concourse side). Passengers can access the buses by using the escalators near the baggage claim. Greyhound travels to many outlying regions and other states. Fares are determined by the final destination. This is an affordable option for those who need luggage space and relative comfort. MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) travels throughout Atlanta including the airport. Passengers can catch MARTA trains at the west entrance of the main terminal. The trains run every eight minutes and reach the city center within fifteen minutes. Adult fares are $1.75 and up to two children under the age of six can ride free with the paying adult. There are also savings passes that start at $8 that offer unlimited train rides per day. Airport ShuttlesAtlanta Airport Shuttle makes runs from many area hotels to the airport or vice versa every day from 7am to 10:45pm. The shuttle runs every fifteen minutes and costs $8 one way or $14 round trip. Tickets can be purchased in the Ground Transportation area. MetroShuttles provide transportation to a number of areas in and around Atlanta. These shuttles leave the airport every fifteen minutes. The shuttles can be accessed by exiting through the Delta S5 and S6 Baggage Claim area and entering the Ground Transportation area. Payment must be made by credit or debit card. Passengers who need to get from one terminal to another can use the underground rail system that circles through the airport. Not only is this rail service fast, but it is also extremely convenient because it brings people into the heart of the terminal they require. Limousine ServicesHigh in comfort and efficiency, those who can afford to hire a limousine will find that it is the most luxurious way to travel. Limousine service must be booked in advance and only limousine companies who are licensed with the airport may pick up customers at the curbside. The complete list of appropriate limousine companies can be found at the airport's website. A new rental car building is currently under construction, so the limousine lots are temporarily located on level 3 of the North and South parking garages. Taxi ServicesTaxi service is available in the Ground Transportation area in the Red Zone. The airport has a set fee structure allowing passengers to reach the business district within Atlanta for a flat fee of $30 (Downtown), $32 (Midtown), or $38 (Buckhead.) There is a $2 fee for each additional passenger. Those traveling outside of the business district pay $2.50 for the first 1/8th mile and then 25¢ per 1/8th mile after that. Taxis charge a $21 an hour fee for passengers that make them wait at the curb. Often this is the quickest mode of transportation thanks to the direct service.
