The setting and location was spectacular. We stayed in one of the lofts which, aside from having low ceilings on the sides of the bedroom (be careful when you get up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet!) was roomy and the shower was massive. Very comfortable room, although we tended to spend most of the time outside exploring the mountains and lakes. Dinner was nice, but not great... probably expected a little more given the reviews and price... although we had been dining in 5-star French hotels, so our expectations were rather high! All-in-all a great place to stay, great service and rooms, and a perfect location to explore the amazing Lake District.
No stairs in the hotel, which makes it tough if you're staying on the 3rd floor - although I'm hoping older guests would be afforded a hand with their luggage.
Friendly staff, great breakfast choice, superb room furnishings, everywhere spotlessly cleaned, big fluffy white towels, nice toiletries, lovely choice of complimentary drinks in room including nice biscuits, best ever hot chocolate. Recommended hotel, and just a 3 minute walk to centre of pretty Grasmere and some lovely walks.
Excellent location for walking in the lovely village of Grasmere. Great food and friendly staff.
Wish the breakfast were served a little later, as with most hotels, its meant to be a holiday!
The location is superb. The hotel decor design and general ambiance were excelent.
Good reception, nice breakfast
The quite suroundings, nice breakfast.
Our room was a bit tired. Bed very so so!
Everything - Service, rooms, food and location were all excellent. We would use this hotel again.
Good situation and general facilities. Although the bed was very old, creaky and small by modern standards.
I object in principle to be told what I can and cannot wear at dinner. Reflected a rather pretentious attitude.
public rooms very comfortable
the bed was hard and uneven, and the room was a bit cold despite the heating being on
