Car Rental

Due to security measures, only a certain number of rental car companies are allowed to bring rental cars right up to the curbs in front of each terminal. Rental cars are generally handy for those wanting to do some sightseeing while they are in town, but passengers should be careful to book with one of the companies or they will have to find transportation to the car rental company's off-site location. Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, Fox, Payless, National, and Thrifty are the only rental car companies within LAX.

Public/Ground Transfer

Area bus companies run directly from the Metro Bus Center in the Lot C parking area. Culver City Bus Lines, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, and Torrance Transit all leave directly from this lot. Often this method of travel is the least expensive, but the buses are not equipped to handle a lot of baggage and there is no baggage storage at the airport, so this option may not work for everyone.

A few bus companies also have longer routes that circle the terminals within the airport. Grayline takes passengers to Universal Studios, Knott's Berry Farm, and Anaheim hotels. Airport Bus heads to Bakersfield. Antelope Valley Airport Express goes to Newhall, Palmdale, and Lancaster. Santa Barbara Airbus travels to Goleta, Carpinteria, and Santa Barbara. Ventura County Airporter goes to Ventura and Oxnard. These bus rides are generally one to two hours in time and baggage capacity may be limited. Scheduling a reservation is recommended.

Airport Shuttles

LAX offers a a free shuttle to and from the Aviation Metro Rail Station. This shuttle departs every fifteen minutes and circles past each terminal before heading to the main rail station to connect up with rail service. Passengers wanting to use this option should look for Shuttle G.

Shuttle C takes passengers from the nine terminals to the local bus station where passengers can connect with bus service to the city and other outlying regions. Shuttle C also runs every fifteen minutes.

Remaining shuttles take passengers from one terminal to the other or to Lot B and Lot C parking areas. All of the shuttles are free of charge.

Limousine Services

LAX Shuttle and Limousine Service provides comfortable transportation for all passengers. Rates are a little higher, but cars are roomy and offer a thoroughly relaxing trip. Generally, it costs $70 to reach Long Beach, $80 to reach Disneyland, and $60 for trips to San Pedro. Most limousines have a strict limit on the number of passengers, so it is important for travelers to check with the company first.

Taxi Services

Taxis are found outside of arrivals at every terminal. Taxi service is generally fastest and most direct, but some companies have charges for additional pieces of luggage and also limit the number of passengers. Authorized Taxicab Supervision, Bell Cab, Beverly Hills Cab Company, Checker Cab, City Cab, Independent Taxi, United Cab, and Yellow Cab are the only authorized airport taxis. The city regulates the fares with these taxi companies, so passengers should expect to pay a flat fee of $42 from the airport to downtown Los Angeles.
