The New York Marriot Marquis quickly became an iconic part of the Midtown landscape when it first opened its doors in 1985. Rising 45 stories, with nearly 2000 rooms, the hotel is one of the biggest in New York and features a modern, glass-and-steel aesthetic, plenty of large meeting spaces, a theater, and the only revolving high-rise restaurant and lounge in the city.
About the New York Marriot Marquis
The Marriot Marquis isn't a typical Manhattan hotel; it's a Times Square institution, characterized by polished marble and intricate architectural details. The hotel pays homage to its home, Broadway's theater district, by hosting its own world-class performances at the Marquis Theatre, located on the hotel's third floor. The View, on the top floor, is a revolving restaurant and lounge with breathtaking views over Manhattan. Sightseers can easily reach other neighborhoods from the many nearby subway stations, while those visiting for business can make use of the hotel's 100,000 sq. feet of meeting space, which includes a 2,800-person capacity conference center.
The Marriot Marquis is centrally located in a busy neighborhood, and aside from having Times Square on their doorstep; guests can quickly reach Broadway's theaters, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, and the Museum of Modern Art. The hotel is also one of the closest available to the Javits Center, for visitors attending one of its many events and conferences.
Great location and some great views.
They apperently give every person in the hotel access to the executive lounge. I'm used to a crowd at times but this was crazy. They need to either expand the lounge or enforce the entry policy.
Response time of the staff and high cost to eat hotel restaurant...
Our stay was fine. The staff was friendly, the room was clean. As one would expect for $400/night. The ticket counter for local shows was very helpful/convenient.
