I loved every single minute of my stay at the West gate resort and spa I wish I could move in permently thanks for the stay
Only thing I didn't like was there wasn't a jucuzzi tub in my 1 bedroom suite but still had a very beautiful shower
The room was not what was described or what pictures on line repersented
No wifi, loud, uncomfortable. Moved to another hotel after first nights stay.
Truthfully I was thankful to leave
Your staff was rude and you are more concerned about selling timeshares, then doing your jobs correctly
The resort was close to Universal, so we didn't have to drive far after a long day at the park. The gentleman that helped us change rooms in the middle of the night was friendly and helpful. The room was reasonably priced.
Our first room seemed okay at first, the furnishings were outdated but that really didn't bother us. When we went to go to bed my husband felt something crawling on his arm. We got up to find several baby cockroaches in the bed, under the mattress and on the floor. After that neither one of us could even think of sleeping. We called the front desk and they sent someone over to help us move. Our new room appeared bug free, however it was pretty dirty and even more outdated. There was obvious debris on the floor and old towels in the bathroom. But at least there were no roaches! The next day when we checked out the receptionist didn't say anything about the room change or our roach problem. We had chose Westgate because my husbands parents are owners and generally have good things to say plus we were on our honeymoon and wanted to stay at some nicer hotels. We probably will not go back.
Everything was great
The facilities were expansive. Lots of pools and, we're told, lots of activities. Close to Universal, not far from Disney.
It's a damn timeshare scam. Ugh. Additionally, we were kept from getting to our room for quiet some time by a small family of raccoons who seemed to have claimed our stairwell for their own. We tried going around, but since our room was at the top of said stairwell, that proved fruitless. After a rain, a large (1"+ deep) pool of water collected at the base of that very stairwell and remained throughout the duration of our stay. Not exactly a place I'd want to become an "owner."
- Larger than expected - Lovely porch and homey living/kitchenette area - Friendly & helpful hotel staff - Nice pool/hot tub area
- Could never get a luggage dolly (Only one seemed to be available per building) - No bathtub - No seal on shower door (water leaked out onto floor when showering) - Neighboring room was quite loud until almost midnight. The above items are fairly minor. The main detractor in this hotel was the "Tour" staff. Upon check in, we were told that we had to leave a $20 deposit on our credit card to hold our place at a free breakfast. At the free breakfast, there would be a 60 minute presentation about the hotel then for sitting through it we were to receive a $75 discount. Well, the first day of our stay we showed up to the tour desk at our allotted time only to have to reschedule for the next day after waiting a half an hour. The next day. we showed up 15 minutes early and were kept waiting for over 45 minutes while tour staff rudely questioned us in a berating manner about our marital status, our employment (my boyfriend is self-employed) and our income level. They copied our identification then kept us waiting 20 more minutes until I explained that we had to leave as we were now running late for a convention. We were then told that the presentation was going to take another hour not including breakfast. We then decided to get our $20 deposit back as well as the copy of our ids. The salesman said he could quickly go through the presentation then asked for our company names, addresses, employment history and telephone numbers so they could call to verify employment as he had 20 state offices he had to report to. We then reiterated that we just wanted our deposit back. He gave us a voucher to receive our deposit but we had to insist several times that we wanted the copy of our ids back as well. He finally ripped the application in half and shoved us the portion with our ids on it at us. Needless to say, we never did have breakfast.
Close to parks
Old outdated rooms. For the same price you'll be much more comfortable in a la Quinta or extended stay America.
It was quite
No parking at night Check in sucks And for the money that I paid it was not worth it
There was a noise in the bedroom I was calling the front desk for one hour. We cannot sleep all night. Finally security was in the room and they confirm about the noise most probably from a fan but they were not able to do anything at that time (3:00 am) next day I went to the front desk and they said that they will have to verify with security the incident. At the end nothing happened.
Me and my boyfriend suddenly decided to take a trip to Orlando. We had never been to Universal Studios, and Westgate lakes seemed like the best option. It was really cheap, there were good amenities (pools , mini golf, restaurant), and there is a shuttle to Disney and universal every morning. We booked a studio villa and it was nice! We requested a remodeled/ waterfront room (we highly recommend this, otherwise you could be in the middle of construction or facing a highway). We got a bottom floor villa and it was a standard room with a kitchenette, king size bed, flat screen tv, shower and a jetted tub. And best of all it had and amazing view!
First of all, this hotel looks like someone once invested a lot of money into it, but then ran out of money because it outgrew itself. There are so many units and the whole resort is massive. I think if they had more money it could be a 4/5 star resort. We did have some issues with ants, but that's expected on a bottom floor unit. THEY ARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION. I just want to make sure everyone knows this because even after reading reviews I somehow didn't know that. That's probably my bad but I just want everyone to be aware of this before booking while they are under construction. Obviously things are more hectic and awkward because of renovations and road blocks. It once took us 20 minutes to drive from our unit to the lobby. But other than that, this is perfect for people looking for the resort experience on a budget. We had a fantastic time just spending time on the resort. They even deliver pizza. That's aweomse.
great location to all venues staff are friendly and personable gate guarded good nearby restaurants Fluffy and abundant towels
ants in the kitchen and bedroom no parking at reception/checkin during rainy weather
Location was great, close to parks and endless restaurant options. Many even deliver to the resort w/o issue. Staff was extremely helpful and courteous.
Parking can be difficult, majority of spots are taken by 8 p.m. Plan to walk far to get to your room otherwise. Facilities are obviously outdated. Had a roof leak on our last night over the spacious master bed/bathroom hot tub; staff was notified and was left without resolve before we checked out an hour later.
Room was nice and had a great view of the lake.
There was no parking anywhere.
The rooms overall were good for the money.
Time share.....enough said. I wasn't a member so I was treated like garbage and couldn't use anything without paying a ridiculous price.
Excellent location for Universal Studios. Good rate for the amenities offered
Check in took 25 minutes even though it was a pre paid reservation. Wasted 10 minutes of our time trying to invite us for a timeshare presentation when we explicitly declined upfront. Room cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Dead roach in Jacuzzi. Non existent parking in our room block after midnight had to park halfway across the property.
We got there the room was not what I was expecting looked old nothing like the pictures plus there was a leak coming from the bathroom roof it was 2am it just an old place looks like they are remodeling
Not enough parking.....dirty rooms....staff wasn't very helpful or friendly....time share presentation was very irritating....once you informed them that you wasn't interested they immediately indicated a poor attitude and they were VERY unprofessional.
