Pros:To my surprise the previous bad reviews that I read were very wrong about this hotel. I rented a private room, so I can only inform you about that type of experience. It was very clean, they provided a hairdryer, the staff spoke excellent English, and several other languages. They always have someone at the front desk, even late at nights to help accommodate you for checking in, just in case your flight comes in late at night, or early in the morning. People sometimes forget that the culture in France is different, so what might be considered rude over here in the U.S. may not be considered rude in France. For example the lack of acknowledging you immediately when you go to the front desk, in their culture you’re supposed to say something, and understand if the staff member is on the phone and will pay attention to you when s/he is finished. Discussing, debating, and asking about politics is also considered a normal conversation in France, so the culture is very different from our own over here in the U.S.A.
Cons:To be honest I didn’t like how tiny my room was, and I got a private room. If you’re traveling with someone else, be prepared to be much closer to that person than you may have planned. There was also only one available electrical outlet, so if you’re renting a private room, I’d suggest bringing either a power strip along with your electrical outlet converter, or a plug with multiple USB ports with your electrical outlet converter.
Pros:Fouad at the front desk was an absolute sweetheart - I lost all my bank cards and had no money for a night and he gave me croissants, yoghurt and compote (!) The location of the hotel was also fabulous - right in the heart of the sceney Canal St Martin. Thank you!
