The hotel "de la place des vosges" is a standard class hotel, built about 350 years ago, during the same time as the construction of the majestic square it's named for and which is only a 2 minutes walk away. It is a well-managed, small-scale property with reasonable prices and lots of charm. The structure was once used as a stable for the mules of henri iv. Many of the small guest rooms have beamed ceilings, tiled bathrooms with tub or shower, small tvs hanging from the ceiling, and a sense of cozy, well-ordered efficiency. The most desirable and expensive accommodation is top-floor room no. 60, overlooking the rooftops of paris, with a luxurious private bathroom. There are patches of chiseled stone at various parts of the hotel -- a nice, decorative touch.
