The room was very nice & the resort seemed to be very well maintained. The pool area & hot tub next to the marina were great places to hang out. We had a bay view room & the views from the room were great! In fact, we were able to watch the tall sailing ships sailing up & down the bay on Labor Day weekend.
The food & drinks were a bit pricey but we had good service & everything tasted really good. We'll definitely try the bloody mary bar next time.
Relaxing with great amenities and unbelievable views from the courtyard and restaurant.
Check-in is later than normal- our room wasn't ready until after 3. We were able to drop off our luggage and wander around the beautiful island in the meantime. Parts of the hotel have a musty smell. We were able to switch to a better room for only $30 to avoid this.
The location was great, quietly located at the end of Shelter Island with good views of Point Loma, North Island, and the Pacific. I enjoyed the waterfront path and could get a good 4+ mile run in with little of it on the street.
There was some confusion as a result of a change of ownership and renovation. We needed a guest laundry facility and we were told by one employee there was a quarter operated laundry only to be told by another employee that it was closed. No microwave was available for use on the entire property. The pool never had towels available, happy hour was only inside not at the pool bar, and the gym was closed/non existent yet we were charged a "resort" fee upon checkout. Also, parking was pricey even though half the parking lot was closed to be used as a construction staging area forcing us to park a long distance from our room. For the money, stay next door at the Best Western Plus.
I liked the location the best, waking up to the beach view was amazing and super relaxing
The location on shleter Island is great, you have a nice view over the bay of San Diego. We like the atmospere on the island, a nice place to stay!
The restaurant is excellent and is easily the bet feature of the hotel.
No action on my request to have the blockage of the wash basin fixed.
I liked the convenience and the location of the hotel.
Location was fantastic! Maids were prompt in cleaning the rooms. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.
The rooms inside were outdated and beds were a little soft (worn out). For the price we got it great value. The parking fee and the fee to workout room I could not get over. Both should be included and are not.
Not much at all.
The room was very small and it was supposed to be a deluxe room. The toilet seat was hanging off the hinges and the shower head was broken. Also, there was a huge water bug in my bed. The staff said it is common due to the bay. It was disgusting!! Overall, the place needs an overhaul.
Great Facilities-grounds were kept well
Front line staff at check in were not knoweledgeable about San Diego and area. The phone in my room did not work which was concerning and when this was brought to the front desk staff they were not receptive. You need to remember that front desk staff are the staff that are first encountered. They leave the first and last impression
Our room was pleasant. The littler porch area, with door opening from our bed area, was pretty, looking out at the boats, fireworks at Sea World, with, no less, an American flag waving in the breeze in front of our room as the fireworks went off! The full moon which also shone over the water was a timely advantage as well :) Pretty good area to take walk in, strolling along the water. The navy base across the way had some helicopters, boats out and this was interesting and did not interupt our visit. The children playing in the sand outside our room was also pleasant. Although our children are grown, it brought back fun memories of taking them to the ocean in Washington, where we live.
Our computer would not work in the room well. We did get some help from the front desk (they were pleasant) w/ attempts to get the internet service, but this was an inconvenience and hastle.
nice location near the water; within 10-15 minutes by car of major attractions, heated pool, nice hotel staff
the beach towels were too small
Noise from guest, they need to have silence sign before 9pm. Also house keeper should not knock door at 6 am 7am for wake up call, use the phone .vacum should not be done at 830am...dood need to be pick up soon as much by maintenance , some are two days at the door.
