Very friendly and helpful front desk stuff, bright and clear rooms on 17th floor, dominating San Francisco. Very clean, good accomodations, excellent wifi. Delicious croissants (even for Frenchies that we are!) and excellent pancakes at the Scala restaurant!
The room was falling apart noisy and cramped
Location, decor, charm of the interior design, Great bed, carpets clean as was the room. Greeting at the door! Valet parking, the up charge is too high. Scala Hostess on 7/11/15 for am was really bussing it out to keep the floor moving, even though business slow (1/4 full). The rest of the staff looked busy when on floor, but not around much.
Bar top and more needs refinishing (replaced), a major public area and draw. The bar staff didn't appear engaging; as every customer walking through that main area, needs to receive at best a nod or smile. They were chatting it up with each other. Need more professionalism behind bar. Lighting Bar placed up around ceiling is poor choice, washed out look, good for bring out the natural colors etc. Scala, mediocre at best for am breakfast, the menu was not being followed to the word, missing Verde Sauce, Gruyere was not notable, was it there? There is a white plastic bin with drawers, center stage to the back, really!!! Dust on the table lamp, not wiped completely. The seconds of tiles used in the bathtub area make it look dirty. The pillows are third rate, hard packed fiber, burlap?. Room exterior windows need Washing! Bath Sink is big, great, too big for the worn out ugly. In room, sound travels through the walls from other rooms, you can make out the words. Staff should set clock. Hotel Clock radio needs to be replaced, dated, with old cell charger base.

The entire hotel smells of cigarette smoke, the carpets and other upholstery look worn, the rooms are dark, we were put in a room that was intended for a person in a wheelchair and weren't told so, only to discover later that the showerhead was at waist height, making for a very unsatisfactory shower. The walls were thin, so we could hear a party in the room next door. And the popularity of the club at the top level meant that we had to wait for a very long time to get an elevator to our room.
I help a business conference, and the meeting room staff catered it well and the space was great
The internet connection if you don't pay for your wifi is horrendous. None of my 20 employee's could get connected to the normal verizon/ATT service connections. Also, I had a billing issue that no one at the front desk could help with or seemed interested in helping with (I wanted to change the card billed, and I got an insane runaround between Kayak and your hotel). I tired to get front desk to call Kayak with me, and they told me I needed to figure it out.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The building was beautiful and very comfortable.
Wish the valet prices were a bit more reasonable
