The main tourist attractions are outside of the town itself – the area is renowned for its natural beauty and outdoor activities. These include Mesa Verde National Park, San Juan National Forest and Colorado Trail. There are also mountain biking trails, especially in the Horse Gulch area. The most direct roads there start in the downtown district of Durango, so choose a rental in that area.
