What has a nose but can’t smell?

An airplane. This week, we’re paying homage to our favorite dad jokes, what you need to know about European travel and more about worldwide Pride. So buckle up (or we’ll turn this car around).

The pre-check

  • Guess who’s back.

European destinations. With the US news that a COVID test is no longer required for entry, Americans are planning those Griswold-esque Euro vacations they missed.
  • Who’s feeling messy.

European airports. This summer, an increase in disruptions is expected due to labor shortages and strikes. Here’s what you can do: give yourself more time with layovers, get to the airport extra early and research ahead what paperwork to fill out.
  • What to do with those government-issued tests.

If you recently received your free COVID tests in the mail and are wondering, how can I use these to travel? The Points Guy’s Sentira Horbrook gives all the details.

European Pride.
The summer is still full of Pride celebrations for the LBGTQ+ community around the world. Now with fewer travel restrictions in place for travel between the US and Europe, a summer Eurotrip to these Pride celebrations might be just what you need.

Tip: see if you can find flights between smaller international airports vs. major hubs. A team member was recently able to find a cheaper flight out of an upstate New York airport by selecting “show nearby airports” when she searched on KAYAK.

Tricks of the trade

Transgender travel tips.
Aria Sa’id, a San Francisco-based transgender & body positivity advocate, shared her tips exploring the world as a transgender traveler. As Aria puts it, “Travel is the best gift any person can give themselves, and for transgender travelers – the joy of travel, soaking in a culture other than your own, giving yourself moments of joy and rest, and seeing places you’ve dreamed of – can be the most inspiring moments in our lives.”

*Median prices for airfare were determined using searches from 1/1/22 – 3/27/22 for travel between 5/26/22 – 9/6/22. KAYAK considered roundtrip, economy flight searches originating from the US and excluded price outliers based on certain criteria.
