Here’s what’s trending in the world of travel.

The pre-check

The week’s latest travel stories and news.

  • Testing guidance updated.
With an increase in COVID cases, the CDC now recommends that everyone (regardless of vax status) get tested prior to domestic flights.
  • Expect traffic this weekend.
The FHA reported that more drivers are hitting the road, despite the spike in gas prices – so account for holiday traffic this weekend.
  • Leaning into wellness.
With wellness tourism on the rise, hotels and airlines are getting in on this trend by offering ways to decompress while traveling.
  • Price caps on airport concessions.
Transit authorities have placed price caps on concessions in NYC-area airports to prevent over-charging. (Can they do this everywhere?)
  • Fewer flights for summer.
As they prepare for more travelers, many US airlines have decided to cut back on the number of flights to have fewer cancellations.

Tricks of the trade

Traveling light? Here’s our advice.

Whether you’re packing for the long weekend or trying to avoid bag fees, here’s a tip that can help you save some suitcase space. It’s called the “5-4-3-2-1” rule. Pick five tops, four bottoms, three pairs of shoes, two jackets and one accessory for a minimalist suitcase that you can mix and match.
