This resort is located just a few miles north of Tahoe City. It was very well appointed and perks like the concierge service made it a top-notch experience. We were very pleased with the restaurant selection as well as the shopping right there at the resort. Because the resort isn't right on Lake Tahoe, I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you have a vehicle at your disposal. The resort is also very close to Truckee to the north, which is a fun little town for shopping and dining. I can't wait to come back to this resort when I visit Lake Tahoe again.

Just returned from a week's stay at the resort and we had a wonderful experience. The lobby is a bit dated and tired looking, but the rest of the grounds, especially the pool area, are much better. Because it was our anniversary, we received a complimentary room upgrade which was a pleasant surprise. The downside is that the resort is located far from the lake and from good restaurants. Except for the breakfast buffet, the food at the resort was not very good.

We were there during a 90 degree 'hot spell'. The condos are not air conditioned. Walking in the Village was pleasant; they had free entertainment scheduled on various nites.

This place was beautiful and nestled in the mountain valley. The rooms were all modern design and updated appliances. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It was nice there were not a lot of people there because it was the summer. Only reason it's not excellent across the board is no air conditioning. They do provide you with a fan and it cools off at night! Worth the extra drive from 80 to stay here!

The location, the price, the accommodations - everything was great! I highly recommend.

The decor was a little dated, but it wasn't nearly as dated as some previous reviews made it seem. It was charming.

Plumpjack is the epitome of luxury at its best! Nested in the heart of the Squaw Village - Plumpjack is the best hotel to be in ! Its a low rise building with no elevators ! Yay for being green ! The room package came with this amazing breakfast buffet How could you go wrong with quality food, coffee and grapefruit and orange juice selection ! We didnt want to get up and hit the slopes! Concierge was very accomodating - which is part of their service - your skis could be valet'ed' until you hit the slopes the next morning. You want a great experience - its the quality of service and the friendliness of the people around that makes this place! Just right!

I was traveling with my 2 young sons and this hotel made us feel so welcome. The room, the beautiful lodge, and the friendly staff were fantastic. I also loved the continental breakfast. Perfect before hitting the slopes. We will be back. Thank you!

Sunnyside Resort was the perfect spot to spend a couple days at Lake Tahoe in the fall. The aspens had turned and the lake is quiet. We had a lakefront room with a bed so comfortable we slept in late. An expanded continental breakfast with a hot egg frittata was included with the room. We couldn't resist the raisin scones with lemon frosting. The bar serves a fish taco/beer special on Wed nights that was both tasty and incredibly reasonable. The owner sat down and shared both a beer and stories with us (it turns out we have common backgrounds). Both the bar and sitting area have huge fireplaces making them comfortable spots to linger. Although we did not eat in the restaurant, we did tour the pictures of old motor boats on the walls and appreciated the view of the lake from the dining room. Friends of ours recommended Sunnyside to us and now we are recommending it to all traveling to Tahoe.

Yes, the rooms were furnished nicely, and we had a view of the mountains.

The bed in room 301 was too soft. We rolled to the middle. Wish the bed was firmer. It would of made our sleeping more comfortable.

This hotel is at Squaw Valley, so the location is awesome. It was spring so there was no skiing. We rode our bikes on the Truckee River Bike trail, which is always so beautiful and peaceful. It's an easy ride to Tahoe City or Truckee and it's great to be off the road.

The Iron Horse is still somewhat new, and it has all the amenities we were looking for in a ski resort location: Easy access to the Gondola, underground parking, ski lockers, high quality appliances and cookware, great beds, and fireplace. The Iron Horse blended well with the Village and all the restaurants, bars, and activities offered there. In fact, we did not have to drive anywhere the entire four days of our stay. The staff is pleasant and responsive, but the reception experience could have been more pro-active. I probably missed a few amenities because nobody went over all the Iron Horse has to offer. No big deal, because we really didn't want to get into an 'orientation,' but the concierge position could be put to better use.

The place is in a great location, walking distance to Tahoe house, bike trails, and shopping, river rafting. Great for family, tennis and swimming, and it is very quiet most of the time. One big problem, it is very outdated, the place looks old and tired. For example, the carpets in the main building worn and dirty. Patio furnitures broken, disarranged. Furnitures in our lodge are very worn, saggy coach, towels hard and worn. The beds are soft (from being worn) and uncomfortable. Would not be surprised if these are infested with dust mites. There were spider webs and dusts all over, especially up near skylights and on shelves. We made big mistake turning on the fan to cool our lodge, which caused a majory dust storm. The kitchen is good and clean. Overall, it needs major updating for the money that these owners paid in monthly due as well as what they are charging for guests.

Granlibakken Resort hosted our daughter's wedding weekend in August, 2010. The wedding staff, chef, service staff and managing director did a fantastic job with our event. We had over 100 people stay for 2-3 nights at the resort and they were all pleased with their accomodations, breakfast buffet, pool, hiking and various activities in the Tahoe City area. Granlibakken is the perfect location for a family vacation, reunion, business meeting, couples weekend, etc. I highly recommend Granlibakken!

I loved how close it was to all the restaurants and from our room you could see the lake and mountains! I loved the decorations in the room and the staff were amazing! So sweet and helpful!

I did not like that online it says "free continental breakfast" and it was waffles with a hard boiled egg and two cereal choices. The website is a little deceiving as it makes you think it is a very luxurious hotel...when in reality it is a hotel that hasn't been updated since the 70's except for the decor in the rooms.

Okay 4.3

No bed bugs, that I could see, but then again, maybe they require a minimum thickness of mattress to survive, or else, they were being consumed by worse lurking in the carpet.

Can't imagine how it has a "good" rating. Admittedly, it was very cheap in Feb.,... but you get what you pay for. - I thought that the linens and towels were coordinated to the grey trim, but then realized that they were in fact once white and also that blood stains would never match any trim. - Also originally thought that the walls had abstract art murals on them, but no, just splattered stains ( which, now that I think about it, did somewhat match the linen blood stains, so maybe I'm just not up on interior design) - Shower had a strategically placed anti-slip covering up a hole in the floor ( which did seem to be more efficient than the actual drain) - ice maker was turned off. Answer "It's cold, why would you need ice" The fact that only a good stiff drink was going to make habitation acceptable didn't seem to penetrate. - Refrigerator got A for effort, based on noise, however failed to produce any cold ( maybe again part of the "it's winter") - I didn't know they produced CFL bulbs for the lumen equivalent of the old 5 watt bulbs. - Nor did I realize that paper could actually be used as load bearing walls. - Carpet was an environmentalists delight, it certainly was green and organic. Might even be a source of yet undiscovered life, so I shouldn't be knocking such an effort at bio-diversity.

Clean, up keep was great, casino wasn't overly smokey, great friendly staff.

Some guests let their door slam over and over, if they could put something on the doors to make them quieter, that would help.
