I found the Embassy Suites on Rural Road in Tempe (Phoenix) to be as good as any hotel in which I have ever stayed. The rate was reasonable. The room was large and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the included breakfast was subperb (hot omelets, etc.) Also a large and well-kept pool area. I will certainly stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for accomodations in the Tempe/Scottsdale area.
I really enjoyed the free breakfast, and newly remodeled hotel
My stay at the Embassey Suites was extraordinary. My daughter and I traveled to Tempe to witness a highschool graduation in the local area. While I was there, they were in the middle of a renovation that upgraded the quality of life for all of the patrons. The hotel is located right of the highway in a perfect location with the rooms and service both being exquisite. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.
The hotel lobby was under renovation and the front desk/office was located a very small room. There was a lot of noise throughout the day from the construction area. Breakfast and happy hour were excellent.
If 'staff' and 'service' were separate qualities, the staff would get five stars. But in the age of free wi-fi in every good hotel I have stayed in the last 2 years, this one is bad. No wi-fi in the rooms at all. There is an ethernet cable; when you plug it in you are informed that you'll be charged $10/day PER COMPUTER. This wouldn't be so bad, except there is some filtering system in place that shut down my connection four times over the course of a couple of hours. The front desk then connects you with tech support somewhere in the world; support wanted to know if I was streaming video or downloading some huge file (I was simply browsing and sending emails). Then I was told that my Macbook had a virus (!) and someone was hacking me. Gave up on that and tried wi-fi that is available in public areas of the hotel, but that was another $10/day even though I had paid for the ethernet. Gave up on that and hooked up the Verizon modem, which we carry for times when nothing else works, but the hotel had that service blocked! This is beyond atrocious. Regardless of the comfort of this hotel, I'm looking for an alternative in the area for internet alone.
Suite was nice. I could work in living room while my wife slept in the bed room. Complementary hot cooked to order breakfast was fabulous and a great start to each day. Free happy hour drinks in the evening was a nice benefit. The only thing that could have made the hotel perfect would be free wireless or free wired internet. I paid $10 for 24 hours of only wired internet at only 250kbps speed; way too slow and too expensive. Even McDonalds has free internet these days.
All was well except the internet. wi-Fi is relatively easy to provide. Enormous numbers of Starbucks have free Wi-Fi.
Stayed here for the Insight.com bowl........good proximity, great service from staff...... nice, clean room. The front desk personnel were very nice & very helpful in all aspects of our stay, & the two beds + the fold out couch was perfect for 3 occupants.
I visited with my sister and niece for the Rock & Roll Marathon (My niece was running). We had a suite with 2 beds and a hide a bed. I was relagated tothe hide-a-bed and it was even comfortable. However, the mattress was encased in plastic add to that the 'foam/velour' blanket and you get a real sweat box. The cooked to order breakfast was excellent. All of the wait staff was friendly and helpful (even though English was not their first language). On the Sunday of the race housekeeping was late and the room was not cleaned when we arrived after the race (Around noon) My niece need to lay down and rest after the run so this was a slight inconvience. The spa (Hot tub) was very clean and pleasant, we used it every day.\n\nWe would stay here again and reccommend it to others.
We stayed here over the summer -- it is an Embassy that was renovated from another suites hotel, so it's decor is different from most. The pool area in in the inner courtyard and is pretty and secluded -- I barely wanted to leave!
Stayed over an extended weekend and found absolutely no problems with this hotel. Quiet dark rooms, readily accessible parking and good in room dining. Above all was the level of service shown by the staff...far above average.
