February already? Snow way.

Exciting things are happening in the world of travel – such as a freshly-launched cheat sheet for booking last-minute vacays and a road trip to honor the start of Black History Month. Let’s jump right into this week’s headlines, shall we?

The pre-check

With more places mandating boosters, more locations opening back up and some beloved events scoped to resume, here’s what’s happening this week in the world of travel.

  • Who’s really going places…
Vaccinated travelers. According to a recent Forbes article, a majority of US residents who say they have plans to travel in the coming year are either fully vaccinated or boosted.
  • The question many are asking.
Do I need a booster to travel? Many locations require proof of full vaccination, however, some popular destinations are starting to ask for proof of a COVID-19 booster too.
  • Speaking of boosters…
Many European locations are implementing their own booster requirements, including Spain, which is requiring that all US travelers must show proof in order to enter.
  • Who’s rolling out the welcome wagon.
The Philippines and Morocco – starting next week (2/7 and 2/10), vaccinated visitors are welcome.
  • Who’s no longer on a break.
Many annual festivals, like Mardi Gras and Coachella, plan to resume their events in 2022. Time to start comparing those flight + hotel vacation packages…

Here’s what’s trending and how it can help you make the most of your trip.

There’s no time like the last-minute.
Towards the end of 2021, domestic flight searches within 7 days of departure were up 13% compared to 2019*, and international flight searches within 14 days of departure were up 38% since 2019* – and it looks like that trend’s continuing. But if you’re booking last-minute, you might think you need to eat up extra costs. Uh, no. To help you plan better, smarter and…later, we put together a last-minute booking tool kit. Take a look to see which tools can help you plan your next spontaneous getaway. Here’s some highlights:

  • Search with flexible filters
Find flights, hotels and rental cars that won’t charge you if your plans change.
  • Choose your trip insurance
We’ve outlined what most insurances cover and how to find the right policy for your trip.
  • Price Freeze and Price Alerts
Track flight and hotel prices to know if they change, or freeze prices in their place if you’re not quite ready to decide.
  • Catch up on Travel Restrictions
Stay up to date on which countries or public spaces are open, testing and vaccination requirements.
