First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes… an incredibly lavish honeymoon, of course. In April, Meghan and Harry announced that their post-wedding plans will take them to Namibia. Before their big announcement, we asked you to vote on which of the destinations below they’d choose. Over half of you picked Tanzania — so we weren’t far off. See below for the 7 destinations we thought might make the royal couple swoon.
PS: if you want to join in the fun that’s happening in London, set a KAYAK Royal Alert. It’s like a KAYAK Price Alert, but fancier. We’ll track airfare from your home airport to London around the dates of the Royal Wedding on May 19th. Smashing.
Where Could They ‘Moon:
Tanzania
Africa is a very popular place for both celebrities and royalty to travel post-wedding. In fact, Meghan and Prince Harry traveled there before they got engaged. Tanzania’s blend of safari excursions, beachside resorts and incredible culture makes it the ideal place to get some R&R post-media circus.
Crete, Greece
Not only is Crete our #3 Trending Beach destination, but it’s also a popular place for romance. Harry might want to honor his mum, Princess Diana, by visiting where she and Prince Charles honeymooned. The royal couple took a Mediterranean cruise that made stops in the Greek Islands. Plus, you can’t go wrong with Greek food.
French Polynesia
Islands like Bora Bora are notorious for being among the most popular destinations for royalty and celebrities alike to travel to for their honeymoons. While Meghan and Harry generally seem to buck tradition, they might go with a tried-and-true royal favorite on this one.
Banff, Canada
O, Canada. Since, Meghan filmed her show there, the royal couple might want to go on a “farewell tour” of sorts. Meghan is purportedly hanging up her acting gear to pursue philanthropic ventures. Either way, in a country known for its gorgeous scenery — and a former commonwealth — Canada’s parks could be just the place they need to escape the post-wedding hype.
Surrey, England
Maybe the lovebirds don’t want a big, fancy honeymoon to-do. Meghan is still new at the royal game after all, so they may take some time in low-key Surrey to enjoy the first few weeks of married life out of the public eye.
Turks & Caicos
If there’s any destination that can use the royal touch right now, it’s the Caribbean. After the hurricanes of 2017, many travelers are hesitant to visit. And while some islands are still rebuilding, many of the mainstays — like Turks and Caicos — have been back up and running for months. Meghan and Harry may travel here or to neighboring islands to take advantage of the small crowds, stunning resorts and relaxed vibes.
Atlantic City
Listen. Even royals like to get down-and-dirty in the Jerz (or so we imagine). With both Meghan and Harry celebrated for their down-to-earth personalities, it’s possible that they might buck tradition all together and head to a spot where us commoners like to party. And the gritty vibe of Atlantic City may be just what the royals need to shake off the “prim-and-proper” lifestyle of the monarchy for a week.
