The building had a notice dated 3/15/13 declaring the building unsafe and :This building shall be vacated shall not be occupied". City of Fort Lauderdale posted a Stop Work sign because the owner/contractor did not have a permit to continue repairs to a fire on the second floor. The room had human/food stains on everything: bed covers, walls, lampshade, windows. Overall, the building was in disrepair and should not be listed as a Kayak accommodation.
It was so dirty. I killed at least eight cockroaches while I was there, and never took my shoes off so I wouldn't touch the carpet with bare feet. The room next to mine was completely burnt out and there was a sign that said the entire building was condemned. I will NOT be returning there.

Great Location, friendly staff, clean room. Let's face it, anything is better than where we currently live. It's Fort Lauderdale!
The air conditioning unit only really cools down the bedroom efficiently. However, you shouldn't really be in hanging out in your room all day anyway when the beach is 200 feet away. Not really a spring breaker place. Is intended more for families and couples. So if you are spring breaker and plan to rage nightly expect to be told to 'shut up or get out.' The hotel is also next door to and is owned by the gay men's hotel (The Royal Palms). The Royal Palms is essentially a 24/7 gay party/rave which I found quite humorous. However, do not let this detour you because they are very respectful.
Gay Fort Lauderdale's premier all male gay resort, The Alcazar Resort is centrally located to all Gay Fort Lauderdale nightlife, dining and shopping. Just minutes away is Wilton Manors where you will find a variety of Gay shops and clubs that will add to your vacation experience in Gay Fort Lauderdale. The Alcazar along with its sister resort next door The W...

The room was inexpensive, very clean, and the staff was friendly
The complimentary wi-fi couldn't sustain a connection, I work in IT and needed to remote in to work. Please note it was late July, but the breakfast area was on an outdoor patio that faced east and even at 8am, the area was oppresively hot.
The price was low and the quality was high.
A bit far from the airport and port ($30 cab fare).
