The Greenbrier - White Sulphur Springs - Building

9.2 Excellent (550 reviews)
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Loved the setting and the grounds the most. From our greeting with a glass of champagne (peach tea was also an option) to the fascinating bunker tour to a lazy afternoon by the infinity pool to a morning run around on a path circling the grounds to bowling and shuffleboard to the charming artist colony shops to our morning coffee on a beautiful terrace, we made the most of the Greenbrier. A two night stay suited us well and gave us time to explore and enjoy the property. Lots of beauty in the surrounding area, but you can also just enjoy not going anywhere else while you're there.
Cons: Lots of dining options, but we found them to be overpriced and the service was slow. Just remember to factor that into your budget. Also lots of cool activity options, but most of them were at an extra cost that was prohibitive for us.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Having been around in one form or another for almost 200 years makes The Greenbrier feel permanent (in a good way), but also let's you step back in time to gentility, southern charm, bold florals, cold war bunker, towering oaks and mountains. Dorothy Draper's froufrou florals are part and parcel of The Greenbrier, and part of stepping back in time. Service is wonderful, friendly and attentive. Rooms are large and comfortable.
Cons: The Forum Italian restaurant needs to improve its cooking. Chicken piccata was thick and oily. Service from the kitchen was very slow, though our wait staff was delightful. And the Hostess had a sour attitude, as if she were doing us a favor by honoring our reservation, and selecting a table.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet and clean. Kuerig in the room...very nice...
Cons: There was no closet or area to hang clothes or jackets...it was very odd not to have a closet in the room. There was only one bar of soap to wash with...had to keep switching the soap from sink to shower. The turkey sausage was over cooked for breakfast but everything else was delicious.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, good breakfast, very quiet and comfortable.
Cons: Inferior paper products and no bathroom fan
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Under construction, no closet had to use a luggage concierge to hang dress clothes, patches on wall no paint, toiletries was not replaced, bed made but no straightening of room.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location was good. The rooms were spacious. The front desk staff was very nice
Cons: They were in the midst of a renovation & hallway was a little undesirable. There was not a good place to sit outside & have a beverage - only next to parking lot. No bar. No comfortable seating in lobby to visit with friends. Our used towels were not picked up by housekeeping. Bathroom was not cleaned during stay.
7.5 Good
Pros: The Inn is undergoing renovations. That's fine. It's a good looking motel and will only get better. The breakfast area was tastefully appointed, and well laid out. The swimming pool was fine, but the exercise room was sketchy: I know, I know: they aren't used that often, are they?
Cons: Couple of notes: first, the bathroom door ended up about 3/4 inch below the closing point (Room 318 if you want to check). My wife guessed it might be to let out the shower steam (since there is no 'blower' in the bathroom--a minus), and so she may be right. But it certainly looked odd: I cannot recall seeing a motel door not reaching the top of where it's supposed to close. Second, there is no door hook inside the bathroom. leaving only one good place to hang a bath towel--or one's clothes. Third, there was no place by the bedside to connect an i-phone charging device. (There is a plug in the wall, of course, but one needs to bring an adapter for that). And I thought the price was too high: $167 plus tax? Sorry, but as nice as Lewisburg is, that's a stretch... :-)
4.5 Okay
Pros: Once I arrived they send me to a room that was not clean. The ice machine didn’t work. The door to room didn’t close all the way. I was not comfortable at all.
Cons: Everything
7.5 Good
Cons: Construction
7.0 Good
Cons: Rates were outrageous
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! We travel a lot and this is the best hotel we've stayed in thus far. The Keurig in the room was a plus! The bathroom was exceptionally clean! I am an inspector....I inspect the rooms when we travel for hair, bugs and dirt. I found nothing there! I even checked behind the bedside table no dirt or dust! I have to say you have an amazing cleaning crew KUDOS!! The check in staff was friendly and welcoming. We had an emergency arise and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. Will definitely stay again and again!
Cons: Nothing
6.3 Good
Cons: The breakfast was pitiful at best. The hotel was under renovation and that was not disclosed on the website. Front desk person obviously didn’t want to be there. Glad I only needed a quick stop to sleep for the night before continuing on my travels.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The updated decor was very nice and comfortable.
Cons: The elevator had some strange noises so I would usually take the stairs
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean rooms
Cons: Nothing

5.5 Okay
Pros: Staff was friendly and helpful, Location was convenient and accessible.
Cons: While the room had recently been refurbished, the toilet leak after flushing leaving a puddle on the floor, the lavatory faucet was so corroded that the right side was missing, exposing the under parts, there was a popped piece of drywall tape on an interior wall about 2 feet long sort of an ugly crack in the wall, lastly the AC top cover and grill was missing. Also the ice machine was broken. I think the manager is trying, but there were numerous punch out items that should have been corrected before putting guests in this unit.

Pros: The shower head is great! Microwave and frig are out standing! The front desk person was very nice!
Cons: All the carpet needs to be replace! Directv didn’t work and no one knew how to fix. We had to fix it ourselves! They couldn’t keep coffee up with out having grinds in it! Who shuts down breakfast down at 9am on the weekend! When it shuts down they the put locks on everything! It’s a busy motel they could just upgrade place! We’ve been staying there for over 10 years and I usually book up to 8 rooms for that weekend! We will be changing hotels next year! Sorry
