The hotel is named after Actaea, nymph of the shore, dweller of the coast and one of the hundred children of Nereus, the undisputed Old Man of the Sea. It lies in the center of the Marina Lunga bay, close to the center of Lipari and boasts 40 bright rooms decorated in the Aeolian style. The hand-painted majolica floors complement the colors of the walls and ceiling: a combination of blue and white and blue and yellow. The mosaic swimming pool with whirlpool seats and the lush garden are impressive.
The pool is magnificent and the room with the balcony is pretty and welcoming..Loved the double doors out to the balcony.
A dog was constantly barking and we had to keep our door closed..Construction in the area, but when not there this must be a very quiet luxury hotel.
The rooms were large and comfortable. The pool was beautiful.
Restaurant staff was cold and unfriendly. Food was average nothing exceptional. We sent back an entree which was not to our liking and ordered a replacement entree and were charged for both.
Margarita on reception provided excellent customer service, calling our previous hotel to locate an item left behind there and also proactively arranging an excursion for us based on very limited (and somewhat inaccurate) information we provided. The restaurant staff were charming as well.
The hotel could consider extending breakfast until 10.30. I noticed a number of people still eating when everything was cleared away promptly at 10.00.
Very nice pool and garden area, the room was large and comfortable.
Staff was rather inept. Whatever you asked for - they had to call the director. They were not able to help with the transport to Catania airport (you need to take the ferry from Lipari to Milazzo, then a bus).
Beatiful place, nice staff, great breakfast
Overall, the hotel stay was great. The room, facilities, grounds, etc were very clean. The environment was peaceful, and if we ever make it back to Lipari, this is where we will stay.
The staff and their service was exceptional. So was the cuisine. Do ask for their homemade Cannoli and the Malvasia from Salina to complement it! The three chefs are in the same class as the three tenors. The food was extraordinary, they recommended some excellent local wines and they even catered personally for the vegetarians in our party. They picked us up at the harbour and dropped us off at 630 am for our return trip at no extra charge. We look forward to spending a longer holiday there on our next visit!
