Farrell House Lodge - Sandusky - Building

9.7 Excellent (116 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pleasantly surprised. This is definitely a good b&b or conference center
Cons: Nope
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the old house and how much character the whole estate had. The staff were awesome, helping with anything and everything we needed. The food was excellent as well.
Cons: If I could change anything about this hotel, I would add a little fridge in the room.
Cedar Point's Hotel Breakers - Sandusky - Building
2

7.0 Good
Pros: The very helpful staff. Perkins excellent restaurant food and service. Loved the early entry to Cedar Point.
Cons: The quality of the room was lacking. For the price the room needed pricer upgrades. No coffee maker?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to the park
Cons: Friday's restaurant wasn't the best food
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Price
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenience to Cedar Point, lakefront beach area.
Cons: Beds and pillows were not very comfortable.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location couldn't have been better! Right by the park, made taking a break from the sun and fun easy!
Cons: The hotel was so far from being a 4-star hotel that I take serious issue with its advertisement as one. Its location aside, the hotel did not come close to meeting 4-star standards. Bathroom was filthy. Floor was not mopped between quests, unacceptable!

9.7 Excellent
Pros: Everything was nice. Staff was polite and eager to help.
Cons: Wished the water park stayed open later.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Waterpark was phenomenal for an indoor park. Suited more for younger children than tweens. Had a hot tub that was for adults only but children were present and splashing around a lot of the time. Overall, pretty nice. Rooms could have been cleaner and they are not the "family suites" as advertised, they are double hotel rooms with log furniture.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The room was amazing, everything was very clean and comfortable. There was always something to do with the water park, arcade, and movie times in the main lobby. There is a restaurant, and a bar, a coffee shop, pizza//other quick foods stand, and ice cream as well. Super kid friendly, as they have quests you can purchase for the kids to do during your trip. They also have bottle service for adults at night which is nice.
Cons: We checked in after we went to cedar point so we were tired, and the staff at night wasn’t a welcoming as day light. (Understandable). When we checked in, the concierge just gave us a packet and didn’t even tell us how to get into our room. I was never there before and didn’t know the wristbands open your door, and I assumed he didn’t give us a key.
9.1 Excellent
Cons: GREAT WOLF LODGE WAS EXCELLENT. THIS WAS MY FAMILIES FIRST TIME THERE AND I WAS VERY IMPRESSED. THE LADY THAT READ THE STORY YOU COUNLDN'T HEAR HER CLEARLY, AND THE FOOD IN THE DINING ROOM FOR BREAKFAST WAS HORRIBLE. OVERALL IF THESE TWO THINGS GET CORRECTED , THIS PLACE WILL BE AWSOME.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a good business model for families. The hotel itself is OK; probably on par with a slightly dated DoubleTree or something of that level. Where the hotel sets itself apart is in the design of the room: ours had a built in "treehouse" that contained a bunk bed and an extra bed. Add in the king bed in the main part of the room, there were four beds overall. That's really nice for a family with several kids who might otherwise need two rooms. The waterpark was nice, although maybe a touch on the small side. That was fine for us; our child is not much of a daredevil so she was happy with what was available. Some children may find it to be a bit repetitive after a couple of days, but the waterslides were surprisingly fun for an indoor park, if a little short. I had low expectations, and they were substantially exceeded. Besides the waterpark, there was some other stuff for the kids to do, which included a scavenger hunt-type game called "MagiQuest." The kids get a magic wand and have to wander around the hotel completing adventures and finding different things based on clues in a book. It's a nice idea because it's easily several hours of entertainment, and it's nice to have something to do other than the waterpark. It's a clever idea and a nice touch. In the vein of Disney, there is a lot of other stuff for the kids to do, like activities with the Great Wolf characters, Build-a-Bear, story time, etc. We were there for two nights and I was concerned it was going to be too long, but it wasn't. Plenty of stuff to do and we never got bored.
Cons: In the vein of Disney, everything is designed to milk a little more money out of you. The waterpark is included with your room stay, but that's pretty much it. The MagiQuest, significantly, is not included, and it's not cheap. You have to buy a magic wand and the game, which together is around $35 or so. It seems like every kid in the hotel does the MagiQuest, so be prepared for your kids to ask you about it. Alternatively, you can buy a "Paw Pass," which includes the MagiQuest and a few other things (including Build-a-Bear) for $60. It's a pretty decent value for what it is, I guess, but $60 is $60. If you have a few kids, that can certainly add up to real money that you may have not been expecting to spend. The hotel room itself, while fun and cleverly designed, was not the most comfortable. The king mattress was not particularly nice, the pillows were not of high quality, and the kids' beds in the treehouse were downright uncomfortable (my kid didn't mind them). I would not put the bedding on par with a DoubleTree -- it is worse. The food is just OK, the selection isn't great, and it's expensive. The main restaurant charges around $20 for an entree. For $20, I expect the food to be good, but it wasn't. It came cold and was only fair in terms of taste and flavor. The kids meals are expensive ($8.95) and also didn't look to be particularly special. There is no lunch menu. By the time that you add on a tip, expect to spend $25-$30 per adult for a meal, not including alcohol. With a couple of drinks added in, it could easily approach $40-$50 per adult. There are two other quick service restaurants in the hotel. The food is also just OK, and the prices are also pretty expensive for what it is (burgers, chicken tenders, etc.)-- plan for around $10-$12 per person, excluding alcohol. The service was hit and miss. Some of the staff was very friendly, while others were clearly phoning it in. Our room was not ready at the already very late check-in time of 4:00 p.m., which is particularly astonishing considering that check-out is 11:00 a.m. The hotel did not seem terribly concerned that our room was not ready at check-in time, and so we were just sitting around the lobby waiting with a lot of other people, whose rooms were also not ready. The rest of the staff, as I said, was hit and miss. Some of the staff really were trying to make for an excellent stay, while others couldn't be bothered. The staff included a lot of younger, college-age type people; I noticed that, in general, these were the people who weren't really making an effort. The older adults on staff (perhaps those with children themselves?) were really making an effort. Overall a good stay, and I would certainly go back. But it's nice to go in with your eyes open.
6.0 Good
Pros: Rooms reception reponse time to room calls people where respectful I could relax and have fun with the kids
Cons: Breakfast at the restaurant it brought down the standard in my view
9.6 Excellent
Pros: They had everything we needed right on sight. We liked the extras that they offered for our children. They received Wolf ears at arrival and had activities and a bedtime story in the lobby. We all enjoyed the waterpark!
Cons: The game room closed at 9. I think 10 would've been much better. We couldn't fit everything in. We had one staff person at check in that wasn't helpful at all and wasn't very nice. Another person apologized for her and took care of what we needed. Everyone else was very nice and helpful.

Cedar Point's Express Hotel - Sandusky - Building
6
8.6 Excellent (802 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Cedar Point's Express Hotel is an ideal hotel option for guests who are planning to spend a day or two at Cedar Point amusement park, Cedar Point Shores waterpark, or both. The hotel is owned by Cedar Point and is situated just a short drive from both locations. The resort recently re-imagined all of their rooms to give them a contemporary look and feel. There are 419 total rooms for visitors to choose from. Each room in Cedar Point's Express Hotel comes with several different amenities to make the guest's stay as comfortable as possible. Some of the things visitors will find in their rooms include an in-room coffee maker, mini-fridge, and microwave. The hotel offers some great ways to spend a day on-premises outside the park. Enjoy the heated outdoor pool, children's splash pad, courtyard with sitting area, and children's playground. It also offers a variety of quality-of-life additions like a convenience shop on the first floor as well as laundry facilities. Perhaps the number-one reason to stay at Cedar Point's Express Hotel is the ability to take advantage of Early Access passes to the parks. Guests staying on-site have the opportunity to get passes along with their tickets that let them enter the park one hour before the general public. All visitors have to do is present their tickets to the concierge desk and an Early Access voucher will be given to them to be used that day. Guests can also purchase other convenient items at the front desk like Fast Lane passes that will let guests skip the lines at some of the park's most popular rides.
7.6 Good
Pros: Convenience to the park, outside eateries. Pool and whitlpool located on the oermises. Housekeeping staff was great with their daily services.
Cons: Cedar Point Breakers Express need to update the rooms. The rooms are old and need some attention. An iron and an ironing board should be in the room. I had to call to ask for an iron/ironing board of which was never delivered. I had to walk to the front desk and advise that I waited 30 minutes. Customers travel a distance to get to the hotel, their are no ammenties such as microwave, or a fridge. It's not like they have an eatry located on the main floor of the hotel. Gift shop/convenience store is nice, but an eatry would provide more revenue for the hotel.
6.2 Good
Pros: Close to Cedar Point.
Cons: Front desk staff was more concerned with their phones than helping customers. Rooms were clean although toilet paper was not restocked. The soap is some nasty fragrance from Bath & Body Works. No free breakfast or coffee.
7.7 Good
Pros: We loved bow close the hotel was to cedar point and ability to purchase cheaper park tickets that also allowed us to get into the park early
Cons: The room we had was not in the best shape. There were obvious signs of age/wear and tear. Beds were not very comfortable either but for a short drive from the park, it is a good hotel to crash at before driving home
4.8 Okay
Pros: Proximity to Cedar Point.
Cons: Dated room, broken lights, broken luggage racks, overall upkeep of the hotel. You pay for 3 stars, but you end up with 2. It is really close to Cedar Point, and a few restaurants though.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Basic accommodations if you're going to cedar point
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Proximity to park, decorated for HalloWeekends and the super clean rooms.
Cons: Nothing.
5.1 Okay
Pros: Close to the bar I went to. Pictures of Cedar Point Rollercoasters above the beds.
Cons: Overpriced basic "Days Inn" room. Check in at 4pm, check out at 11am, so you pay a lot for 19 hours. Housekeeping came knocking on our door shortly after 9am wondering why we haven't checked out yet. Also, I showed up at 1pm and asked if I could check in early, but was told I had to wait until 4pm, even though the guy in front of me didn't have to. If you want a cheap room for your trip to Cedar Point, look at the hotels on Rt. 250, such as LA Quinta Inn, which have the same rooms for half the price. If you have the money, I'd stay at Kalahari.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close location to the park
Cons: M/a
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Overall, the hotel was great. I stayed here about 8 years ago prior to the renovations. The hotel looks and feels like it should cost more than it does. The beds are fairly comfortable and the room was very clean. My top cover had a few stains on it, but I’m super observant and I’m positive that the majority of folks wouldn’t notice. The stains didn’t appear to be bodily fluids so I’m not super concerned. It’s about 2 miles from Cedar Point on the same road and comes with some perks for being a hotel guest. Overall I highly recommend, especially if you’re looking for a very nice, yet lower-cost lodging option.
Cons: The only thing I really disliked was how spread out the hotel felt. The elevators are around two corners which are kind of a pain when you’re lugging everything in. No one told me I could’ve moved my car to the other entrance to be closer to the elevator. Beyond that, I wish there was an indoor pool, but that’s not enough to sway my decision about the hotel either way.

Cons: There isn't much parking
7.7 Good
Pros: Was nice to have a sofa in the room for extra seating.

Pros: Clean and practical.
Cons: Small room. Sink outside bathrooms.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The only thing that was good about this hotel was the price I paid for the stay
Cons: I don't feel like this hotel is family friendly. The customer service skills were not good. The only person who offered any help was new and really couldn't be of much service. Breakfast was horrible and cold the fruit they set out was very old. Would not stay here again. Had a few problems with my room and they never even offered to fix the problem. It was just okay we'll make a note of it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: How amazingly clean it was! I would definitely recommend Fairfield Inn.

6.5 Good
Pros: There was a jacuzzi tub! It was a great value for a large room with a comfortable king size bed. The morning staff was quite friendly and helpful, allowing us to help ourselves to breakfast after 10 am because we're not early risers.
Cons: The jacuzzi tub was in the living room, oddly reminiscent of a cheap 80's porn studio. The room also was not adequately ventilated to accommodate such a sweaty amenity, and we spotted mildew on the ceiling. It also smelled quite damp, an indication that previous guests and staff are not capable of handling the responsibilities associated with having a bathtub in one's living quarters.
2.0 Mediocre
Cons: no elevated in building. bathroom was in the process of being painted. Room smelled. Vey high humility in room everything felt wet
4.6 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was okay and the beds were pretty comfy.
Cons: The air wasn't working right and we had to change rooms at around 1:30 in the morning cause my whole family couldn't sleep due to the room feeling like a sauna.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Located just minutes from several things. Easy access from road. Good breakfast.
Cons: Parking lot small, no map of hotel facilities.

7.7 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good. Room was clean
Cons: Train tracks right across the street rins all night long
10.0 Excellent
Pros: place was very clean with no maintenance issues . the ac and heat unit worked very well. was able to take motorcycle inside court yard and park right at our doors. the outside screened in room for continental breakfast was a very nice addition. housekeeping staff was great and supplied me with extra rags and showed me where outside water hose was to wash my motorcycle because it was so dirty from being caught in rain.
6.5 Good
Pros: The room was clean and comfortable. Very close drive to many restaurants and the park. Though having the jacuzzi split between the bedroom and the bathroom, it turned out to be a pretty cool set up. We loved the huge tub!
Cons: The decor is very dated and the grounds could use some upkeep. The "continental breakfast" was disappointing (thawed frozen waffles, three choices of cereals, and pop tarts). We didn't like the outdoor seating area, since it was pretty cold that morning.
7.3 Good
Pros: easy check in breakfast
Cons: breakfast - .outdoors
7.3 Good
Pros: The location was awesome. We went to Cedar Point and it was super close and very easy to find. When we got to the hotel the room was so cold. I mean really cold, which was nice since we had a blistering hot day at Cedar Point, and all of us really like our rooms to be chilly. The room size was very nice for four people and we for comfortably, I would not have stayed in the room for an extended stay though. The hotel was also pretty close to some nice food resturants in the Sandusky area. The room and bathroom were also pretty clean. The hotel wasn't fancy or brand new, a little run down, but comfy.
Cons: That bathroom. The bathroom was way way too small and every time we turned the light on it made a distorted ringing noise that was so abnoxious we used our cell phones for light. Also, the breakfast. The breakfast was not very good at all. There was no warm food. You could put like a bagel in the toaster oven, but it didn't work. We also had to walk to the Pavilion, which was forever away from our room and it was also outside. It got very hot and muggy in there really quick. We even left and took our breakfast to our cold room.
7.6 Good
Pros: Cozy room with a fridge, microwave and jetted tub. Had a nice selection for breakfast.
Cons: Rooms could easily be updated and be so much nicer. Coffee maker did not work.

Next is Quaker Steak & Lube, where visitors can indulge in some home-style American cuisine on some relaxing patio seating. The restaurant is located at Cedar Point Marina, which offers a panoramic vista of the harbor.
6.0 Good
Pros: I like the perks of staying in a Cedar Point owned hotel so we got into the park 1 hour early. The water park was fun but not as large as we thought.
Cons: The rooms need to be redone. The blankets were old and rough. Beds were uncomfortable and it was very loud in the hallways at night. The patio was screened in, wanted to use it but patio chairs were even dirty.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The water park was one of the better ones me and my children have been to.
7.6 Good
Pros: The family atmosphere and how nice everyone there was. The kids loved the indoor water park. Enjoyed the screened in balcony. Room was very quiet.
Cons: The room needed to be better vacuumed. Found toe nail clippings in bathroom and by one of the beds.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable beds! Great location! Breakfast was yummy and staff was very attentive
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beds, room size, bathroom size were excellent. Location central to all attractions we visited. We were on the end of the hallway so it was very quiet (except for loud vehicles on the causeway). Breakfast ladies were great-always friendly and helpful.
Cons: The room with a view is deceiving online. You are looking at the parking lot(with floodlights shining in your window at night),the causeway traffic and THEN the water by the hotel across the road. The guy supervising the (wonderful) brkfst staff was a jerk.

Pros: This was a great place for the family to stay. The pool/hottub is awesome. Everybody was friendly and it was clean. Everything I asked for was promptly brought to me. The staff was super friendly. The housekeeping staff always smiled and said hello. Also super close to Cedar point which was a huge plus!
Cons: The breakfast at the restaurant was lame. It was tater tots and what seemed to be powdered eggs. The gravy was runny. Just not good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean rooms, good beds, not too loud, nice pool! Great value for the price. Polite staff despite the fact that the guy next to me was acting like an idiot.
Cons: Pop machines were empty... also PLEASE get a new sign by the road. The hotel was michmuch nicer than the sign leads you to believe!
3.6 Mediocre
Cons: It looked welfare.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The manager went to the back of the kitchen to give us english muffins to make breakfast even though we were an hour late for breakfast. It was really nice of him. We stayed here for a wedding nearby. The room/bathroom was clean, there were plenty of towels, and the AC was working well in 95 deg weather.
3.6 Mediocre
Pros: Leaving
Cons: Asked for a main floor room was told none available due to remodeling and watched people move in to main floor rooms after request. Desk Clerk unfriendly and unmotivated to help. Room smelled of carpet glue and urine to rest rooms Have fun staying at this place, a 2 star rating is very generous. Not worth $100 + per night. Left after 1 night and stayed at the Days Inn down the road much better for cheaper.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The price was low for the area but you gave up a lot for the price. I will spend more somewhere else and be more comfortable my next stay.
Cons: Didn't feel clean, breakfast was lacking but staff were nice.
4.0 Okay
Pros: It was the closest place to cedar point. That's about it.
Cons: This is a very loud and uncomfortable motel. The walls are thin, plus exterior doors make it easy to hear cars parking, people walking outside, lots of drunk people and fireworks (it was July 3rd). As for comfort, the beds are very old and hard. We had to bring in extra pillows and blankets from our car the second night to make it bearable. I suggest paying an extra $50 to stay at a nicer place so you can sleep better and enjoy your day at cedar point.

Cons: Paid for a Queen bed but got a double. Staff was very unfriendly. Towel rack in bathroom was broken. Toilet low. Hardly and towels. Didn't give up free wi-fi password when we asked for it.
6.8 Good
Pros: Close to cedar point, and clean !
4.0 Okay
Pros: The absolute only things
2.6 Mediocre
Cons: Very dirty old rooms. Stains on everything.
3.7 Mediocre
Cons: I had my family with me and the room reeked of smoke, I was very upset to say the least as I had asked for a non-smoking room. The second room smelled less bad, but still smelled not fresh at all, the continental breakfast was good, free parking, you get what you pay for I guess. Was disappointed, I will not be returning to Budget Host Inn.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The pool was great, room was clean, bed was confortable.
Cons: Breakfast could use a little more food.
6.2 Good
Pros: This is what we expected for the price. Easy check in. Easy to find. Close to Cedar Point. Nice mustard walls. Spacious room. Pretty comfy bed.
Cons: Our smoke free room was most certainly a smoker room previously. Breakfast was slightly shameful with a disfunctional waffle machine. But all in all, i’d go again because it was a great price and we spent a total of sleep time in the room.
