All of the staff were very friendly. Mrs Sonia and Dr Mike were very pleasant and accommodating :) The location was also great.
The hotel could use some updating and refurbishing. Some areas on the outside of the hotel could be re painted
When we checked in and looked at the room, we were concerned that it was right beside the bar, and would be too noisy. Back at the front desk, the lady who checked us in was very negative, saying they were booked solid. Then a man came out from the back room, spoke briefly to her, and gave us the choice of 2 other rooms, one of which we took. We were pleased with the move, and after that, everything else went very well. Free breakfast was good with lots of choice on the menu, and the staff extremely warm and helpful. Lunch was good too, and not too expensive. The beach was great, and well maintained. Chairs were set up for us as we came out, so no issues. Good shade available too. Close to lots of restaurants on the beach - beware of the one with the blue tarp & no walls 3 or 4 properties over towards the cliffs - they tell you one price (there's no printed menu, just a chalk board), but all of a sudden everything is extra, and the drinks are twice the price quoted when it comes time to pay!
Me and my girlfriend stayed there for 5 nights in October of 2010. The ONLY negative to this place is there is no pool. Everything else is just great. The service is great the bar is great and the food Amazing. The pizza is the best and I live in Chicago! Jerk sausage onions and green peppers. Makes me want to jump on a plane everytime I think about it. Breakfast was free with our room and everymorning i had to get the Jamaican breakfast. Ackee and saltfish with toast. Just try it if you have never had it. Good stuff. The beach is cleaned daily and they have the best spot on the beach. Away from the bigger resorts and very quiet. The rooms for me are for nothing but sleeping and they are just right for that. Nothing special and if you care what your baseboard looks like or stupid cosmetic stuff then go to some snooty hotel. We were in our room to shower and sleep at night and thats it. Get out and explore Jamaica! Dont be scared! You MUSt go see the Blue Hole Garden if you go to JA. Its a little drive but the best place on Earth! Also check out the seafood spot couple doors down called Kuyaba. Call ahead and ask to reserve the tree house table. Awesome secluded table that is located 15-20 feet above the other tables overlooking the beach and ocean. Bar B Barn has a money exchange right around the corner and a convenience store about a 2 minute walk away. I cant wait to take friends with me next time to show them what an amazing place this is!
It is the most wonderful little place ever. The staff is very friendly, in fact they know your name within a day or two. Always wanting to help if you need it. The beach is perfect, and many activities can be booked through them. The jerk chicken is wonderful, and if you like Italian, Seafood or especially PIZZA, Angela's, which is connected, has the best pizza I have every had. Jerk Chicken, or Jerk Sausage. Either is wonderful. The seafood dishes are also wonderful. The rooms are not 4 star, but they are Jamaican. Definately take bug spray to sleep in, as the Island has bugs (wierd huh!) As far as everything else, 'perfect'.
just doing a standard search fo places to stay for my July 2010 vacation. I've stayed at the Bar-B-Bar beach Hotel in the past. No way is it worth $* for a 8 night stay. i could stay at an upscale all-inclusive resort for a month for that kind of money. The rooms & bathrooms are fair. I paid $* bucks per night on the spur of the moment and that included breakfast. Don't waste your money. You will be exteremly upset...and sick to your stomach.
