Quiet surroundings and professional service Bed was somewhat hard, but I found this to be fairly universal in the UK!
The food at the hotel was very good. What appeared to be mud came out of the bath taps when I attempted to run a bath. There was red wine stains on the side of the bedside cabinet. The hotel room was very dated.
Accessibility to town. Quiet and good service When walking around the room the back lining of the wardrobe/combined writing table made an annoying vibrating noise (room 424)
old world charm good food great staff needs a bit of TLC Showers not great
Helpful staff. Good food on occasions. Location. Service quality variable. High effort, low on training (attention to detail). Kitchen slow to produce food.
Staff very pleasant and helpful Room was a little small. Windows not opening.
Excellent and spacious room with af our poster bed. Very polite and helpful staff. A bit pricey.
Small - 17 Rooms. Quiet with good food. Excellent Brakfast. Great views. Needs a little upgrading - seemingly being done in Jan 2011.
The hotel staff are friendly and it is in a quiet part of the town, but close enough to walk to the town centre. Common to all Lerwick Hotels, the price that they charge is very high when you compare what you can get for the same price in other parts of the UK.
Position Smell of smoke on bed linen
The resturant was very good both regarding service and food. The room service could be described as no better than fair
Sea view. Convenient to reach town centre and other routes north and south
Friendly Staff and Clean rooms Noise from ferry Terminal
The room and bathroom were a good size and well maintained and cleaned. Staff do respond to complaints about the food - but I have a feeling they get plenty of practice. This hotel is fine for business but if you're looking for a relaxing break only book if you're desperate. The room was noisy, overlooking the main road and ferry terminal. But better the noise than the rooms at the back of the hotel which overlook the car park. Don't eat dinner in the restaurant no matter how desperate.
The rooms were nice however the hotel is not very well laid out in terms of where all the lift stops. The staff was extremely courteous and let us check in at 9 instead of 2 as we had arrived from the ship which was awesome. The breakfast was excellent and the rooms were very comfortable.Plus it was located right in front of the ferry terminal which was very convenient for us.
Location, Staff Faulty Shower
hotel said they had not received booking and they would have to put me in another hotel. The hotel was full of offshore workers due to cancelled flights, obviously priority is given to oil companies instead of business users with confirmed bookings.
Good, clean comfy hotel. Good food served in the restaurant and very good value for money
The Spacious room and digital tv. The bathroom was very good with a heated towel rail. It was fairly cold in Shetland, although I was ok. The room did not seem to have any heating that one could put on.
I thought the staff that dealt with me were very friendly and efficient. I had been concerned about the overall standard of the hotel, as the reviews I read prior to the visit had been poor. However, I was extremely satisfied with the hotel.
Convenient position Helpful,friendly staff
Efficient and friendly staff Carpet needed hoovered between the beds. Windows quite dirty.
The hote;l was very well decorated with nice furnishings but the bar seating cou;ld be more comfortable a bit to upright in the comfy chairs. In all a pleasent stay. I will book to stay here on my next visit.
Food was good, some of the staff were very good, view was commanding. lack of sea view when having dinner and no comfortable lounge to to seat in
Very friendly staff. Good food. New bathroom Room itself was in need of a refresh in terms of decor
To be perfectly honest, nothing. From start to finish it was a struggle. Fortunately all the rest of the people we met in Shetland were warm, proficient and interested in our holidaying experience and so the holiday was not ruined by staying at the Lerwick. The bad organisation, the over pricing, the mono syllabic staff, the ridiculous lack of concern about obvious detail, the functional menu, the '13 channel' choice of TV of which only 3 actually worked, etc. If I mentioned the dead flies in the main room overhead light fitting in room 229 you probably would not take my commenys seriously, but you might just want to check that.
had the room windows ever been cleaned?!
The staff were great especially Bela The resturant was rather dark and it seemed an odd way to serve food by carrying it through the bar
The staff were very friendly The bed was not very comfortable
