Location only. Easy access to Monterey, CA

No A/C, fans were placed in rooms; however, did not cool down room. Room was dirty (not vaccuumed properly, dirty drapery, wood work exposed behind dry wall in several places in room, unpleasant apparent water damage inside & out of room, vents filthy!

For the price paid, this was a rip off

The location is great and price affordable.

A little rundown.

Clean yet old motel in a beach town. Ben the man at the desk was helpful. Breakfast was in a different room behind the front desk area. The first morning I thought breakfast was just the oatmeal packets left out by the front desk.

NIce room. The suite was comfortable. The full service breakfast was above average.

An unadvertised parking fee of $10, even for Hilton Honors members. The keys did not work, resulting in an inconvenient trip down to the front desk, and then only one of the two keys worked. The biggest issue, however is the way we were treated at checkout. We were told that there was an additional $20 to be charged to our card. When we asked why, we were told that it was for food ordered the evening before. We told them that we absolutely did not order any food. Nevertheless, we were made to stand there while the checkout person went to get all the receipts from the restaurant for the night before, and then went through them, twice. Finally she found the ticket, which was for a different room. The customer had put our room number on the ticket. It appeared to me that she still didn't believe us, even though the ticket was clearly for a different room number. My feeling was that she was never told that the customer's care is important. If we said we didn't order any food, then they should complete the checkout, and send us on our way. They could then search for the problem. They could then have charged the correct customer, and if it was somehow their mistake, they should have written off the $20. We received no apology for making us wait, and no follow up. Though I generally like Embassy Suites, I would not stay at this one again.

Great location in Monterey: convenient to everything. The facilities are nice (there's a cool firepit by the pool that gets lit at night) , but I was expecting a little more from a Hyatt.

Labor Day Weekend was a little nuts--so many people everywhere, but I don't fault the Hotel for that.

Location was great!

1. Your ad said I had two options for this type of room: City view or Ocean view. I clicked on city view. In reality, I got a room on the second floor and a view of the building next door and the Subway down the street. VERY misleading ad and application form for your room. 2. I was given the option of a King or Double. The room was for my partner and I so I was hoping for a King. I've never received a double booking as a couple but this time I did. I called front desk to change my room when I got upstairs and they said I never specified King. Your website doesn't give a very obvious space for me to specify King though. 3. The room I was placed in was next to the weight room. It was loud because when people work out, they lick to drop weights which makes a lot of noise. This did not making sleeping very easy. 4. I tried paying for the internet but kept getting error messages. I'm good with computers and I'm certain this was a network issue and not a user error on my part. In short, I didn't get the room I expected, it was difficult sleeping at night bc we were so close to the weight room, there was no internet, and I don't understand how the front desk said I should have specified King bed when your online app form doesn't give me a space for that. I won't be staying at the Marriot any more in the future.

I was very dissatisfied.

When I booked the hotel thru kayak.com, it looked very clean and comfy, somewhere I could relax, and even read a book. When we arrived to the hotel, not only did it look creepy, but it also was very ghetto looking. The staff there were not friendly, they only want your $! I booked a room with a balcony, so my children and I could sit outside, and read our books. They gave us an ugly room with no balcony, and growing mold inside the bathroom. The toilet would flush for hours, and it wouldn't stop! California is in a drought, and this is not helping it! Also, my children say they did not feel safe and ugly! The toilet would flush in the middle of the night, we felt like it was haunted! Room #223. Just don't stay there, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

I really like the pool and the location of the Hilton Garden Inn Monterey, it’s was very easy to locate. The staff was very good, I actually asked for a late checkout time and a few other things and they were very willing to accommodate me. The room was clean and had almost everything I needed..

What I dislike: This really is not about dislike it’s more about the comparison of value based on price. Hilton Garden Inn Monterey (“HGIM”), is expensive and maybe too expensive for what you really get. I travel a lot for work and with my family. And basically I would compare the HGIM with high-end Hotels in the Napa Valley and Santa Barbara. One: I would say if you pay upwards over 250 a night, a water bottle (just one) in your room would be really nice, the breakfast buffet was really good but again if you’re paying $$$ it would be nice if it was included and it would probably create more buzz for the property. The bar was fine but seriously it’s just a bar. The other thing is and this is not exclusive to the HGIM, a lot of hotels have this issue the doors for each room when they close are so loud that if you’re trying to take a nap or just concentrate on work it’s very difficult. I found myself hanging out in the lobby to do work. The room itself was not bad two queen beds they were very comfortable, the mini-fridge was loud, the TV was fine, the bathroom, was poorly designed the door scarcely had a enough room to open without hitting the toilet the detail work in the bathroom was not done well and the wardrobe it’s a wardrobe. I know I’m being critical in this statement but it’s because I hold the Hilton brand at a high value, because it asks for a high value for the dollars you pay.

The lady at the front desk when I checked in was very pleasant.

Too much money for the room, which was not all that. I've stayed at other hotels where i don't pay that much money and i get a free breakfast, nicer room. DOn't think i will stay there again when visiting Monterey.

the hotel was PRETTY. The ambiance was very good; the gas log fire in the room was wonderful. The room was very clean. The maids moved personal property around at their convenience, however. The 'Internet capability' was terrible. I was unable to get online long enough to turn in two required papers for my college courses, and received F's in both classes as a result. The Continental Breakfast was mediocre. They kept running out of bowls and kept people waiting. They also ran out of bagels, and had only one toaster to service the whole breakfast. There was no 'sweep' under the room doors and icy cold breezes were allowed into the room.

The hotel is within walking distance of both Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row. Fisherman's Wharf is about a 5 minute walk and Cannery Row is 1.2 miles from the wharf. There's a sign on the path, I didn't measure it :) The walk is beautiful, right along the water where you can see harbor seals, sea lions and sea otters doing their thing in the harbor. The property was really pretty and well maintained. The room we had (a jr suite) was spacious, well laid out and very comfortable. There was even a fireplace! It was clean and offered turn down service in the evening. The staff were really nice and very helpful. If you're planning on going to the aquarium (highly recommended) buy your tickets at the front desk to avoid waiting in line when you get there. I would definitely stay here again, it was really nice!

Great Location near everything. Friendly helpful staff.

Right across our a room dog barked all night. I had asked about bringing a dog and they said my room would be in a different location near entrance for easy access and rooms are selective, but yet a dog right across my room barking. Even room service heard the dog when he came to our room. I asked him and he said he was going to ask for me.. Nothing happened.

nothing

This was literally the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I left 1 hour after checking in and spent an additional $300 to book another hotel. I took pictures of how disgusting the room was, as well as the fact that the bed was certainly not a queen as advertised. Honestly, we did not get what we were promised, and even if we had it was so dirty and disgusting that we really should get a refund. It was THAT BAD. This place was THE WORST. If I were Kayak, I would take them off your listings so that this doesn't happen to someone else as well.

Prices are either the average per night price per room or first night of stay. You can select to display the prices with or without our estimate of taxes & fees (which may not appear on provider's booking page but will be charged at hotel checkout). Before you complete your reservation, verify the total cost on the provider's site. Prices and availability are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tons of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car rentals can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.

More questions or if you have a bad price to report to us
Please send us an email and someone from our team will get back to you promptly.
